Root is genuinely England's best batsman in all forms these days, and also when Phil Hughes died he got Sheffield United to set up some of his cricket bats in hte centre circle and have a minutes silence before a game, so he's a good lad, if a little presumtuous.

Whether he has enough shots for limited overs cricket remains to be seen though.
