I wake up to this? I'm always a little rankled when someone is put off by examination of games in this way. You realize that every single medium under the sun has been analyzed in terms of its relationship to sex, right? This is basic analysis for an artistic medium. The alternative is belief that games exist merely as products and should be examined as such, which is a belief I can not get behind. It's also just writing. One of my earliest twitter discussions with a gamergater revolved around him throwing lovely kotaku articles at me and just demanding, "Are you saying this is OK???" They were all editorials. I barely knew how to answer him. Of course its ok, just don't read that site if you don't like it, ya dingus.

Hey Chris/Jake, have either of you played Darkest Dungeon yet? I think it'd be right up your alley. It oozes style and has a significant Lovecraftian Dark Souls aesthetic to it. I've basically done everything possible at this point at just about 28 hours played, and they've still got 5+ more classes(to the existing 10) and two more dungeons(to the existing 3) to add. It's a really solid game, it's definitely early access even though it's incredibly polished for an EA game, but they'll likely work out the kinks in the next six months before official release. I bet it'd result in some really good stories about given characters too, since they kinda write themselves. Like the starter Crusader, Reynauld, of which mine went down swinging after the entire party had been killed and he was alone against four pigmen, he managed to survive over a dozen deathblows and kill two of them before finally being dragged down. It's a fantastic game.

On the latest Abject Suffering: I had a very similar experience to Bob's Spy vs. Spy story right down to marvelling at the wall of games in Toys R Us. I chose Jaws, based entirely on the license and box art. There's a stinker of a recommendation, if you somehow haven't already received it. Also, Norm Breyfogle was a pretty good Batman comic artist in the late 80s/early 90s.

Has Chris ever talk about Elite: Dangerous on the cast? I know he has talked about old flight games, but I feel like the only reason I know about this game is the Crate & Crowbar dudes talking about it. It's SO loving COOL. I guess the Thumbs generally don't have time to get enveloped in something like that right now, but man I want to hear their takes on it.

Well, I guess if I'm being called on it I should update the OP and burn this down to feed the new growth. Lemme start checking and updating links/bios. Obvious stuff I know I need to do, so tell me if I missed anything offhand: - add Danielle to the IT listing, cross out Ray from "host" on Retronauts since he's just a guest on the new season - cull the following dead shows: Gamespot Gameplay, GameLife, Directional, does anyone care if I slice out the IGN stuff too? - add USGamer's podcasts - fix GB thread link, a couple of site links that no longer redirect properly claw game handjob fucked around with this message at 11:05 on Feb 24, 2015 |

VGHD needs to have it's cast updated with Jim (who has been an excellent addition to the crew). The Crate & Crowbar could be bumped to greater prominence, as it's basically the pre-eminent PC gaming podcast out there (and dead good too). I've only listened to one episode of Podquisition and it was okay? Probably depends how much you like Jim Sterling, and how well you can stand the less interesting people he's talking with.

Pasco posted:Abject Suffering should be up there, more people need to listen to that half hour of weekly madness! Hell just create a new Duckfeed section under the Themed podcasts area. For something else to potentially add, how about Top Score? It's produced by, believe it or not, Minnesota Public Radio, and is a weekly show where the host interviews people involved in making the music for video games. I've listened to a handful of episodes and they've all been super interesting and a cool look at a side of video games that doesn't get bugger all attention. As an example, the latest five episodes have been interviews with Winifred Phillips, composer for Little Big Planet 3 and Assassin's Creed Liberation; Jason Graves of Evolve; Peter McConnell of Grim Fandango; Jukio Kallio of Luftrausers; and Ben Prunty of FTL. quote:I've only listened to one episode of Podquisition and it was okay? I'm sure I've mentioned in this thread before but Cane and Rinse is a great wee UK based podcast where they play through a game/franchise and then do a roughly 2 hour talk through about their experience. Sad lack of UK podcasts representin'.

Sad lack of UK podcasts representin'. Yeah, Cane and Rinse is a great podcast and should be in the OP. Also, I'd like to pitch Pocket Gamer Podcast as a specialist pod cast (That's the feed url). It's pretty well done, and does a great job off covering iOs and Android games, if anyone is interested.

I actually really like the few IGN podcasts I listen to, they do a good job of being informative, funny, and usually under an hour an a half long. Also Greg Miller (who I liked and could stand) and Colin Moriarty (who I couldn't stand or listen to) have left IGN and Max Scoville has taken over Podcast Beyond, which is a massive improvement in my eyes.
