I know the medallion leaderboards count medallions earned on other characters as well. So if you went through with both Gina and Hunk you'd have 660. Don't know if that counts towards unlocking stuff like the 90 completion medallion guy or any in-game records though.

I never cared about merc/raid before but this one is perfect for me. It's so mindlessly fun, even just playing through the first few missions. I guess I'm a weirdo for that opinion but it's exactly what I was hoping for. Not too hard + the ability to grind skills is great too.

This is how I feel as well. I played Mercs back when it was first in RE4 and didn't get into it for whatever reason, although it was probably the time limits. The pacing of Raid works really well for me and they added just enough customization to keep it interesting. Also, the emote attack is hilarious and Hunk rules.

I liked RE4 Mercenaries but I usually lose interest in combat arena type stuff unless there's an element of persistent stat progression. It's why I like Raid mode, there's a soothing tick of ever increasing numbers, skills and weapon modifications to tinker with. Bit of a shame I can't get to the "end game" with just Episode 1 but oh well. :v:

The dodge cancel skill gives more invincibility frames and moves the character further, right? Not sure I've understood the math correctly on that one.

You know how, when you do a special melee attack or a gesture how it locks you into that animation until its completion? If you have dodge cancel, you can dodge at any time during said animation, which allows you to do a special melee attack right up until the point of contact at which you can immediately dodge and gain ground on any enemies still standing.

This is so so good for Gina because those emotes have a long period that they lock your character in place and the damage is right up front. You can dodge cancel basically at any point after that and get clear of the enemy. Theoretically in the hands of a good player it should be possible to dance cancel really fast and do some good damage. I think ideally you'd probably be pairing Dodge cancel/Gesticulation with Can't Catch Me and either Jill's Evade Extension or Clair's shield.

I don't think it does, or at least it only counted first 10 character specific completion medals for unlocking Jill.

Okay. I must be missing something. How the hell are you suppose to deal with fast scagdeads? I don't remember them being this much of a pain in the rear end in Rev1, or hurting you when you touch them. These fuckers run up, stun me cause I touched them, then immediately do their instant kill before I'm out of my stun animation. Pretty much I'm not safe unless I am running away at full tilt, but they are right behind me and I'm unable to turn around or else. Even worse when they are on fire and fast cause now half my life bar is gone even if I do get away. I know how Capcom intends to convince people buy red heart jewels now.

Fereydun

i carry a machine pistol with ice rounds specifically for them because they are even worse than rev1 scagdeads due to not having an ample supply of grenades to make them not attack you/stunlock instakill you. not to mention their absurdly huge health pool and lack of stun animation (unlike rev1).
they're definitely more annoying but also less common since rev1 throwback stages are less common so i guess that's the tradeoff.

since you know they show up in every rev1 stage, i just wager you're supposed to spend all your grenades and active skill stuff killing 'em because otherwise it's a massive ammo dump that can screw you over for the rest of the stage.

also the piers to claire e-mail is something someone else posted from a later episode. it didn't have any spoilers i figured it'd be fine to post here

I haven't had much of a problem with Scagdeads if I know it's on a map where they show up. If you throw down a level 3-4 ice upgrade on a revolver it has something like a 75%+ chance to freeze him and slow him down with every shot.

I'm sure it's also one of those things that'll get much easier to deal with once multiplayer is in and two people can gang up on it.

If you replay the levels, you keep your existing ammo and skills. So you can re-run the chapter until you've got a bunch of fire bottles, and then just go nuts. :supaburn: It's also worth getting a ton of ammo to redo the prison escape as C&M without using the flamethrower as well. Barry gets a Damage 3 from the cage you don't destroy, which if it's anything like REV1, is the highest grade you can get in story mode, so far anyway.

If you turn the flamethrower around before turning it on, it doesn't destroy the cage and Natalia can go pick up the mod before she spins it around to let Barry through.

And I don't know if it matters, but REV1's damage mods go up to 5 on normal and casual difficulty and 7 on the hardest.

Just wanted to say that the PC coop mod works perfectly if you have two controllers. No problems with performance or anything. There was literally no reason for Capcom to exclude it. Also, bricks completely RUIN all the enemies in the first episode, and coop makes Normal difficulty piss easy. Barry was swimming in ammo when we were done.

There is a really funny way to run that gauntlet too.

You can crouch and hide underneath the spinning blades in the flamethrower room. Let them down AI Moire and then they'll gleefully jump into the spinning death blades. Once the initial rush is dead, stand Moire up and have her crowbar the door and kill any stragglers that show up.

My gut check when I first seen it was that the cash shop stuff looks kind of gross, but for the time being you really don't need any of the expanded storage, life gems are a convenience and a handicap, if you :gitgud: you don't need em. The grossest they went with the microtransactions is locking one of the best skills in the game behind the Wesker paywall and the 4 maps which, yeah is kind of offputting as day 1 dlc.

RE5's mercenaries mode is basically dead multiplayer wise, so this is the next best thing I get for the time being.

If you're looking at the states of the games *RIGHT NOW* then the PS4 is less janky and hitchy. Once the modding community stabilizes the performance and starts modding in stuff in the future the PC will probably be the better version.

Full disclosure: I got the PS4 version if only because it's more convenient of a couch game if I have it on a console than to try and rig my PC to my TV.

For all my waxing nostalgic about RE5 Mercs mode I actually dug out my PS3 copy of RE5 and played it for a bit. I lost my save at some point so I could only do Reunion but that mode still holds up once I got my control differences hammered out. I kept trying to dodge away from enemies attacking me there for a bit.

Surprisingly enough people still play mercs that I can get a game going. Also surprisingly the people that still play after all these years are loving TERRIBLE. I had 3 separate people ragekick me because I had the audacity to spend the first minute of the match hitting all the time bonuses rather than joining him in the middle of a big mob of poo poo.

And then I played on the mines map and remembered the instakill bug fucks. I remember I use to be really good at killing them now I can't hit their weak spots to save my life.

Some night this week I'd like to try this again with goons. Maybe even blitz through the single player really quick so I can play the regular mercenaries mode.

Yeah, I was a bit let down by the the throwback maps because I was expecting a throwback further than RE 6...like let's go fight in the Raccoon City Police Department or the main foyer of the mansion. Something a bit more memorable than ummmm those unmemorable places they had. Also yeah, I had no idea what a scagdead was till I came in here and yeah, those things need to gently caress right off. Also gently caress off to that thing at the end of the last throwback map; I don't know what it was but it seemed like a boss I couldn't understand. I'd expose it's weak spot and it never seemed to care and would just keep pinging zero damage. The only way I could kill it was by leaving behind barrels and killing it with that. Which was already annoying after fighting 30 straight stupid revenants.

And Gina is just amazing as she murders people by doing the robot.

That aside, if you replay levels, as I'm just now realizing, the number of metal enemies increases substantially. I just ran into three in I-4, and metal revenents are easily the worst non-boss elite. :/

There's a mod for coop but you don't have to alter any files. You download the mod manager, start the game, then start the trainer in the mod manager and then enable coop. And it works great for me.

The modder didn't have to alter any files. The coop mode is already done, they just removed the menu option. I'm guessing they were worried about performance issues but it honestly ran SMOOTHER in coop than in single player for me for some strange reason.

Just finished RE6 for PC (got it on a Steam sale a while back). That was a really fun game and I'm sad it's done with, the brawling mechanics made it more fun than anything I've played in long time (last AAA game I've played was Mass Effect 3).

Is Revelations worth $50? And how many episodes does the Revelations 2 season pass cover?

I liked Revelations more than most – I'd say that if you liked the shooting in RE6, you should have fun. The brawling is nowhere near as detailed – you basically get a regular melee attack, and then a charge attack when enemies are stunned.

As far as length goes, you'll get an 8 hour campaign and then RAID mode, which remixes the campaign levels and gives you level progression and random loot. If it ends up being something you enjoy, you can sink hours into it.

While I'm tempted to say that it's worth the $50, it goes for $20 on PS3/360/WiiU, so if you have any other way to play it, I would go with that.

The Revelations 2 season pass covers all four main episodes, along with two bonus episodes. The first episode took around two hours blind for me, so I would guess that the whole thing should cover somewhere between 8-10 depending on what the bonus episodes turn out like. It's a great deal at $24, and when you factor in RAID you're looking at a phenomenal cost/dollar ratio.
