Oh, yeah. RE 6 is practically a brawler more than anything. Guns are just for quick stuns and softening up enemies while you wait for your stamina bar to recharge so you can do more kickass melee moves. A lot of people didn't understand this and hated the game because of it.

All of the campaigns have really annoying scripted sections which aren't very fun but the core mechanics themselves are rock solid and the game has the best version of Mercenaries in the series. It's a shame Capcom probably won't go back to it because of how poor the reception for RE 6 was though.

No disagreement on the stealth parts....bleh that's why I never really bother much with Jakes campaign after a certain point.

RE6 has one of the most varied campaigns in gaming and hell at the very least of the series. It's almost like Capcom wanted to experiment and use feedback for where to move the series next. I loved the variety though.

Leon's campaign consists entirely of him getting civilians murdered just by showing up. "Oh hi gunshop guys oops, sorry, you're dead. Never mind, off to this church, hi people hiding in the church, oops, sorry, that's a monster that breathes death, you're dead.

There are some merc characters in 5 that change that up, though. Rebecca has a ridiculous OHK AOE flame spray but it requires an arm stun, IIRC.

Nope. Only episode one shows up as purchased; episode two shows a $5.99 price tag. I'm wondering if it's because I bought the in-game season pass at $20; that version isn't even an option on PSN, as far as I can tell.

I'm reinstalling the whole thing again to see if that does anything, but other folks haven't had much luck there, either.

edit: the in-game season pass gave me Hunk and nothing else. if I try to "redownload" episode two in those instances where the game realizes I purchased it, it just points me back at Hunk's add-on file and doesn't do anything

edit2: sony is apparently aware of the issue and hasn't commented further

I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed it. Chris isn't much better (but other soldiers do survive...not his own often), but yeah Leon is a hilarious bad luck magnet. It was one of the downsides I had with the campaign, since there isn't anything ostensibly preventing a potential rescue or at the least it's not Umbrella killing everyone this time.

Isn't it Neo Umbrella or something? I genuinely can't remember who was responsible in the end other than another nutjob releasing BOWs on the world but without the charisma of a Wesker.

What part of medieval catacombs beneath Chicago makes sense?

As for who was responsible for Neo Umbrella,

it's pretty much ???. Clara (that's Clone Ada, right?) orchestrated Neo Umbrella as basically a front organization to frighten people and raise a smokescreen for her activities, but somehow Neo Umbrella has lots of willing soldiers and tanks and fighter jets. Like, the J'Avo clearly maintain a lot more of their rationale and higher-thinking abilities than Ganados, but somehow once they shoot up that sweet monster juice they just crave to kill Chris and company using elaborate tactics. And sometimes they have some sort of political motivation? Like sure, maybe Clara had access to unlimited super-illuminati money and resources or whatever, but it's pretty weird that you have literally no idea who the enemy you fight for 99% of the game is or what their motivations are.

Well, to be somewhat fair, vice president evil was gonna nuke the whole area to make sure his hilarious assassination plot/kooky tomb lab stayed covered up, so it's not like anyone was getting rescued.

Minor sidenote on the Barry plot in rev 2, Barry keeps mentioning that he's read a debrief of some kind about the poo poo that happened on the island, like the fear game. Did the BSAA roll in, read a couple files and piss off with no further investigation?why is Barry and his tugboat the only clean up crew?

I think RE6's plot is pretty good (silly, but good) except for the introduction of ~*The Family*~ as an antagonistic element that is barely elaborated on or explored outside of the files you get for shooting medals. It's less ambiguity between Neo Umbrella and The Family and more nobody ever thinks to discuss who the hell they're fighting and why.

People are supposed to get hurt by things. It's fucked up to not. It's not good for you.
Jesus christ all of you complaining about framerate problems at least you can get the loving game to work.

for some stupid reason the game launches by default in fullscreen 800x600 and I found out you cannot change the settings before the game starts because some loving genius forgot to include an options menu on the actual main menu. So I try and skip the opening cutscene to fix this stupidity. Game crashes. This repeats a couple more times until I basically realise skipping the opening crashes the game always. I have no idea why.

finally I just sit through the entire opening cutscene and the game actually doesn't crash and loads in, only now can I access the options menu and change the resolution to an appropriate one. The game crashed on changing the settings. On rebooting it at least remembered my settings but apparently forgot I actually started the loving game and now I can't get back in to try different settings about without having to sit through the entire loving opening again.

this is an utterly terrible pc port and I'm probably not buying any future episodes, what a loving disaster. Whose loving ridiculous idea was it to not have the options menu be accessible until you actually manage to get into the game. This is poo poo I need to change beforehand, not after, especially if your game is going to boot into a ridiculously unusable resolution that nobody wants.

Fair point. Until you mentioned VP Evil, or was it the head of the NSC, I had thought that unlike say RE3 there wasn't an active go kill survivors mindset in place. I also figured some people made it out anyway just like the end of (dear god I'm actually using it) AVPR.

Hence why I said wacky facilities. But it does fit with whole ancient and mysterious illuminati/Patriots group running things....it's still silly, but it kind of works in the games logic. Either way I meant the parts before the cathedral.

That's kind of my take on it. I just loved the scope and how over the top fun it was...but The Family is just dumped in there. Like I said I do appreciate the variety and depth of the script and locations like an airplane (which I know isn't new per se) or a city under a gas attack. It's a mess at times, but more a wonderful mess, then pile of poo poo.

That said Neo Umbrella had an aircraft carrier...how do you build and afford that...but I'm willing to Bond villain that plot hole. Better a guy with an aircraft carrier then a rubber dingy.

In the part in the village after getting the chopper parts, once I turn off the siren and escape the bar, where do I run to? Did I just not stand at the right spot in front of the chopper gate?

Pretty much every chest has Red discs in it, even on the very first stage of the mode, and there is a minimum of 4 chests. Also every enemy runs at the speed of sound.

Hunters & Scagdeads all spawn in with at least a 60% chance of being Elite too.

It's only for the contextual melee when an enemy is stunned. It's great for elites or hitting multiple nearby enemies, but it's a bit of overkill for a single normal enemy.

It's that or they tried so hard it just wound up being silly. Personally I think that if Capcom had done a better job explaing mechanics and controls, the game, while not without its faults, would be held in far higher esteem. I still think it's nuts just how long the game is (in the age of short sp games) and varied in location and play.

how much do you need to charge it? I feel like I'm sprinting to stunned enemies and barely hitting R2 with enough time as-is.

re6 has the base combat system and enemies to make one of the greatest shooters ever made due to it's ridiculous depth. the randomized j'avo mutations in mercenaries are a very clever method of changing up encounters with target prioritization and different attack strategies

that is wildly squandered on a campaign that does nothing with it and explains nothing about it

so it's just no mercy mercs: the game instead

Hmmmm, I guess it depends on the enemies. The rotten I find to usually stay stunned for quite a bit and the same with the leadhead dudes, but the more active, normal zombies get un-stunned pretty quick. But with that charge melee it seems to slow down time as you charge up, though it does end up taking about two seconds to charge.
