hiddenmovement posted:NOT TO GET ALL AUSPOL ON U BUT.... Pretty much this. I do feel sorry for the bloke in some ways and I have no doubt he had a major depressive episode and he's come out the other end, maybe there's another one on the way somewhere down the line in 1, 2, 5 or 10 years. I spent the last 4 years studying this stuff and it does get hard to see people wave it away like that it can't possibly be depression (not that I think anyone here is actually doing that, but the broader football community). But, as you said, having depression doesn't give one immunity from being a dick and making dick decisions. Maybe the environment at Melbourne at the time of his depression is something he associates as part of it and wanted to break away from, but at the same time we've seen how fast Melbourne turned their list over a new coach and its not exactly the same place. Or maybe once he came out the other side he went "gently caress this, I want to go somewhere where I have a chance at a bit of success". Which does give Melbourne who did their best to support him a bit of a reason to be pissy with him. The other thing that works towards the being a dick factor is that it's not the first time he's done something like this, with his "I want to go home to Per-nah just kidding, going to Melbourne". I'm surprised he didn't go back home to Perth this time though, specifically to Freo. Surely they could pay him big bucks, he'd be at home and slot straight into a team that needs exactly what he can offer (if fit). I wish him well, but more importantly, the Dandenong Tiprats will wish him well.

I doubt this is true, I follow Mitch on Instagram (he is a talented as gently caress photographer - i saw him and Nathan Jones wandering the city one morning taking pics) and he is constantly taking photos of his then-gf now wife. They look like they've been together for a while.

Surely everyone's picking Nakia Cockatoo first.

The 2 smart choices from Geelong are Mitch Clark and Jimmy Bartel, who, though a foward, has spent the last 2 games right in the guts of the midfield and has tonned up both games. Nakia looks like a gem but I wouldn't expect more than a handful of flashy touches a game from him this year.

Does anyone know what's going on with Ryan Crowley? He's not been training with the club and is unavailable due to 'personal issues'. There are whispers he may never play again. Any Perth goons heard any rumours?

things i know/vaguely remember about crowley: he had a tumour in his hip or something years ago that put his career at risk, his missus is far hotter than an ugly bastard like him has any right to pull

hiddenmovement posted:NOT TO GET ALL AUSPOL ON U BUT.... Yeah I know, I was being more tongue in cheek about it. I know plenty of people with depression (I work in Catering/Restaurants), but they don't just give up their livelihoods because things got tough. Ofcourse I don't know what's going on Mitch's mind, but I don't think he should be playing football again this year so quickly if he has clinical depression that needs monitoring, especially seeming it was part of the reason he was depressed in the first place. I agree with the sentiments that depression is a poo poo and unpredictable thing, but in my honest opinion I think he was bluffing half of it. It just seems way too convenient.

Commentators on the radio are really ridings GWS' dick. * Goddard gets someone matched up on him after playing loose for about ten minutes "OH MY GOD WHAT A BRILLIANT COACHING DECISION BY GWS, JUST HOW GOOD IS LEON CAMERON?"

In other words, who the hell knows.

Joe Daniher looks like he's finally putting on some weight and starting to fill out his frame a bit. The baby giraffe is growing up.

Mitch Clark can both legitimately have been suffering in a depressive period and also be a complete piece of poo poo as a person for the way he handled things, they're not mutually exclusive.

What about his mouth? I don't remember any of the classic Danihers looking near that derpy. Half and half about going to Richmond-Port tomorrow, since I'm working in the morning and I'm kind of like, well, it's a practice match between two clubs that I'm sort of ehhh about. I'll see how I feel after lunch. Should get a few there because of Richmond but because there's been quite a few other matches in the area this time around, I'm thinking 8-9 thou. I'd say it's more linked to the cancer he suffered when he was younger. He's likely to miss the opening rounds of the home and away season apparently according to the dockers.

I want a press red option for a commentary team that only calls the game and doesn't do any colour commentary or analysis. Only call whats happening on field. An option to display stats on the screen would also be awesome.
