A note from BBC's updated FP2 story.quote:Sauber and Van Der Garde, who won his case claiming he has a valid contract with the team for this season, are now in negotiations to try to settle the case out of court. Who was it who predicted the "buying the team" endgame?

Buying the team might be the only way for van de Garde to get anything to show for his money. It might not have been the original plan, but it could be now.

I'm still very new to F1 so I have probably missed the backstory to all of this but, what the gently caress is up with that annoying jerk Giedo van der Garde who won't let the Sauber team drive? Was excited to see Ericsson in a car that hopefully isn't poo poo this season.

They have now tried to ignore this and signed contracts with two other drivers who will give them more money. They are going to fold because of it.

Guideo Van Der Claus is a hero battling against an evil Indian woman who cast a spell / broke a contract. Also, Sauber is Swiss which is like a French version of the Germans. Eurgh.

Just sticking an 'under new management' sign in the window can do wonders for making people want to deal with you again. If VDG was always intending on taking the team over then it would have to be done anyway, so as far as this theory goes it's kind of moot.

Riso posted:So far everyone they asked in the paddock is telling Sauber to uphold contracts and let VDG drive. He literally can't drive anymore. Sauber dithered to the point where his super license couldn't be issued. They also needed to tell the Contract Review Board he had a valid contract before he could be granted one. Unfortunately Not-Clare Williams wrote to the Contract Board after the arbitration ruling went against them saying that he'd been sacked the CRB just went "Sweet. We no longer acknowledge him as a driver then" and he couldn't have applied for a super license either way. At least this seems to be how it's played out. His lawyer was pissed Sauber had not only failed to comply, but also failed to notify anyone that the steps they'd taken would mean it was impossible to comply.
