It also has more Madao. The one that focuses on the Tsukuyo is also pretty good.  ^^^^^^^^

yeah yeah... to be fair a lot of the actual arcs are fairly short, which i like. there's some episodes focused exclusively on comedy, 4-12 episodes of plot, some episodes focused on comedy, 4-12 episodes of plot, etc. it keeps the plot from dragging.

I've read some of the Gintama manga and reading it after watching the anime really shows how excellent the staff working on the anime are. They do a good job at changing material to fit the medium when needed. Also they don't shy away from adding more jokes. The filler episodes are enjoyable enough but what's really nice is how they'll add content to non-filler episodes in such a way that you'd never realize they put in some anime-original jokes unless you read the source material.

Gintama is basically an anime where I'm excited for filler because of things like the filler episode about how to end an anime when you're catching up to the ongoing manga.

Christ, it says I'm at 120 days. Actually, as I math it out, that doesn't seem so bad. I've been watching anime for about a dozen years, so it averages out to about 10 days/year, which is about 47 minutes/day. Two episodes a day seems reasonable. That's what I'll tell myself.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I'm assuming there are big differences between what I saw as Robotech as a kid and what Macross is. Either way I barely remember it so it's worth watching again.
