Anyone know the name of the song at 11:50? "Everybody wants somebody everybody wants" just gives me a bunch of cheesy 90s R&B mixes. https://soundcloud.com/djmarkfarina/king-midas-mix-nov-2009

If anyone was in the indie thread for spoons new album, the opinion on it is similar. They've done an excellent "Hot Chip" song. It is derivative, but it doesn't matter: you listen to Hot Chip songs because they sound like Hot Chip. Can't wait to see them live though. E: Hot Chip.

I'm pretty fond of the the side project a couple of the Hot Chip dudes have. Not quite as good as Hot Chip but definitely has its moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27ysMj768o

So I saw The M Machine at Output in Brooklyn last night and there were maybe by the middle of their set, 30 people in the crowd(it was a Wednesday at 1:30am). By the end, around 3am, there were maybe 15 people left over. The set was absolutely amazing and intimate, then at the end they brought out Chrome Sparks(amazing guy, he opened with M Machine and Glitch Mob on the LDI tour) and he started spinning some Sirismo. It was kind of magical, and considering the last few shows Ive been to have just been packed to the brim and the crowds kind of...eh, it was kind of a rare moment that Im going to cherish forever.

Yup, new album this year. They've been playing tons of new material in their recent DJ sets. Check out the videos of their set from last year's Warehouse Project. Can't wait to see them at Sonar in June! Sadly, however, Ed won't be touring on this go-around, as he's working on his degree. It'll just be Tom (and Adam), which isn't ideal but is still not a deal-breaker as Tom has been (in my opinion) the visionary of the duo.

Is this where I come for synth pop? Please gift me some synth pop. Or just some 80s synth. I have a vision of the future and if it doesn't have organ thumping bass we have failed as a society.

I'm looking for as much of this kind of hard, early 90's EDM as I can get my hands on: 2 Unlimited - Twilight Zone 2 Unlimited - No Limit Human Resource - Dominator Program 2 Beltram - The Omen (Psycho Mix) The Immortals - Techno-Syndrome (Mortal Kombat) L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead L.A. Style - L.A. Style Theme Altern 8 - Activ-8 Channel X - Rave The Rhythm Rhythm Device - Acid Rock 2K (The KLF) - gently caress The Millennium 290 - Paranoia Survivor Max Ishkur's Guide labels it as "Anthem House", "New Beat", and "Rave", for what it's worth...

http://www.discogs.com/Various-Ravin/release/711202 That's the best compilation I know of for that sort of thing. I think it's generally described as "rave" music, but searching for tunes along the lines of breakbeat hardcore, oldskool hardcore, hard house, and I suppose techno as well, will put you on the right path.

Don't forget anything by Scooter (90s EDM, but maybe not early enough for what you're looking for). Edit: I have an old school 90s EDM playlist. Maybe stuff from there you'd like. K, I went through HJB's suggestion, and found two good tracks I hadn't heard before: Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia Awesome 3 - Don't Go As for Boywunda's playlist, there are a few decent cuts in there, but most of it's too modern/polished for my taste. I really love the more primal stuff from the late 80's early 90's. A rare recent example is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InZhKcCPPi0 A bit sparse, though...needs hoover! P.S. Just found a whole album of the kind of stuff I'm looking for, from DDR contributor TaQ (on the trancey side, though).

Synthetic Hermit posted:I'm looking for as much of this kind of hard, early 90's EDM as I can get my hands on: Yeah as has been mentioned a lot of this stuff is just your typical early 90s Hardcore. Or rave if you want to call it that. I did a bit on some of those kind of tunes for my guide ages ago right here. Might be of some interest. Sadly the old TubeTape thing seems to no longer be a thing, so here's a direct link to the playlist. In terms of actual compilations that I'd recommend. Honestly there's been so many compilations over the past twenty years you couldn't list them all. Most of the major label released comps just churn out the same two dozen or so tracks. I've a bit in what I wrote which recommends some of the older comps of the time. New Beat was a slightly different thing, kind of like Techno/Acid House meets EBM made by Belgians in the late 80s. Bit of a flash in the pan, though It did contribute a lot to, and kind of developed into, the Hardcore scene right enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ0Aj4X1kiI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ae5ZofgHDU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmDAB-xv8c8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcbZUmLlNEo And only other tip I can think of is never trust anything in that Ishkur's guide. By and large a load of bollocks.
