There's a provision in the rule that as long as you've proven your car can get within 7% of the fastest, you can race. This prevents teams getting eliminated due to misfortune or rain starting in the middle of the session before they set a dry time. Manor had been inside 107% during FP3, so they get to run.

There were also exceptional circumstances in this case. Normally the provisional pole time in Q1 is set on prime tyres as teams want to conserve their options, but because bad weather was certain today everyone ran options in Q1. This meant the time the FIA expected Manor to be able to achieve was artificially reduced. Under normal circumstances they would have met the 107% mark.

And even so, Stevens in FP2 set a time that would have been quick enough in Q1.

What did you do that for?

Moral WDC Chilton is currently practicing at Indy Lights St. Pete. The stream is free, on YouTube.

Speaking of which, be nice if F1 did things like that. Never happen, I'm sure.

Hey now they have a whole 13 cars entered this year.

And a full 10 of them are committed to more than 2 rounds!

Alright, I'm feeling like an idiot about the race. The time right now is 11:05pm, Saturday. Our DST change is between today and tomorrow, we 'lose' one hour. I can't figure out whether the race is at 10 or at 9 local time, and how to set my alarm.

VV: Thank you. I can handle a conversion, but I just didn't feel sure. Really appreciated.

Rosberg is melting down and we're not even 2 races in.

quote:

Rosberg said Hamilton had decided to abort the lap before he came upon his team-mate.
"He baled out well before coming up on me," he said. "How do we make that a fact, that he baled out before he came across me? That's the interesting one because me just saying it isn't going to bear much weight. I don't have an answer for that right now, to make that fact. I will have to think about something."
