Looking at this again in the light of day, I remembered that rope kid said that the War Bow tooltip is wrong. It is slower than the Hunting Bow.

After making that list, I still cannot decide which weapon focus to take on my rogue. Soldier for dual warhammers or Noble for the flexibility of switching between Dagger/Rapier/Mace. Ruffian would be in the running too if Sabre still had a special property, and my Eder did not already have that focus.

Use an Estoc and an Arbalest. Open with Blinding Strike with your Arbalest, switch to your Estoc and maim some dudes. Easy peasy.

In addition, I wonder if the Scepter really is an Average interrupt weapon.

My bow druid who auto attacked most fights had a surprisingly high amount of damage done so I'm experimenting with a rod rogue at the moment to go along with maces. Just started but it looks promising.

Your priest has a whole bunch of spells that cure status ailments. Use them on your PC and you should eventually get rid of most of them. The same thing happened to me. Note: some of those spells are combat only so you'll have to start a fight to cure your dude.

The only thing I can see is that factoring in DR you can come out slightly ahead on an arquebus if you're doing 1 shot to open battle and then switching to melee weapons.

In my testing, Interrupting Blows does not seem to have any effect on the interrupt roll, at least as displayed in the combat log.

Was just testing that myself. If you're using the cheatengine fix for the stat-stacking, and go into stats / attack multipliers, there's a value called interrupt multiplier. Taking the talent changes it from 1 to 1.15, so that's definitely what's being modified.

Tried setting it to more extreme values to see if anything changes doesn't illuminate anything: a really high value (20) resulted in a lower interrupt bonus in the combat log, a moderate value of 4 didn't show any results in the combat log, and nothing visible like a 4x length interrupt animation.

The DR reduction means it will do more damage for low might characters and on grazes?

Also guns are cool

As a regular cipher, but put some points (but not many) into resolve as well. You'll play it like you would a rogue or unarmored barbarian: wait for the front lines to settle and then run in. Make liberal use of Mental Binding to reduce incoming damage and increase your damage output, and throw down a Psychovampiric shield early in the fight.

This is pretty much all you use arquebuses for though.

e: although at base stats arquebuses are exactly even with arbalests in terms of damage per shot against something with high DR but also have less accuracy and don't prone on crit

Paladins dont do much damage and they are better at the frontlines, but a paladin who opens with his gun and then runs into the fray totally works. Another way to make it work is have your paladin in the backline shooting stuff while also having a second set of meele weapons in case someone tries to go for your squishies in the back.

Anyone noticed loading times getting worse as the game goes on? right now in Defiance Bay its taking 20 seconds to load every area which gets annoying when you are entering houses and poo poo all the time

I think there might also be a paladin order that gives bonuses to arquqbuses? im not sure though

Even then the arbalest's base damage means it will be better in most situations, especially when you factor in damage modifiers. I guess the arquebus would be slightly better if you had really low Might, but then you probably wouldn't be attacking anyway.

Come to think of it, it would be neat if guns had higher base damage than other ranged weapons but weren't affected by Might. That way they would be a good choice for support characters, while dedicated ranged builds would still get more use out of bows.

Sure. Take the talents (remember rakhan field, intense flames) that boost your flames of devotion and then play rogue twice an encounter with a double-strength flaming headshot.

There are plenty of classless talents that boost guns or ranged attack generally. Of those, accuracy may be the biggest deal: the differences between graze, hit, and crit, are quite noticeable. (abilities: zealous focus, sworn enemy, maybe hastening exhortation and coordinated attacks - haven't tested if those two boost paladin as well; talents: weapon focus for the gun you want, marksman, gunner, penetrating shot, possibly shot on the run).

Try and have a chanter around for the level 2 faster reload chant if you're going pure backline gun-paladin.

I'm about 30 hours in and really enjoying this game a lot- but realized something I hate about a lot of RPGs: Can there be more than 1 theme/score music for combat? The same song coming on again and again gives me a headache- especially when it's this excitable "pay attention" beat and it's playing over a really routine filler fight. Could there be like a "yeah this is easy for you" theme, a "this should really test you" theme, and a "just run away!" theme?

Stupid melee centric rogue second guessing. The initial blind attack is pretty baller, but I keep looking at that hobble and thinking 'TWO times an encounter man, TWO!'

Since even a verify and a few restarts of my computer hasn't gotten achievements working, I suspect in the future after the initial hotfix I'll get intimate with the console commands if those can poof basic mundane weaponry into existence later in the game because when I have piles of gold but can't find X weapon for sale conveniently then gently caress it.

What exactly does reputation with the various towns do? Other than a decent reputation being necessary for a certain quest, I don't think I've ran into a single instance of it mattering for anything, anywhere. I could even do missions for the mafia guys, even though my reputation with them was classified as "Terror".

Ah, to be a Hero... Keeping such company...
Crossbow (Slow) = 8 hits per minute
War Bow (Avg) = 15 hist per minute
Hunting Bow (Fast) = 22 per minute (Josh said description needs updating, it says "Average)

Rapier (Fast) = 33 hpm
Dagger, Flail, Torch (Fast) = 31 hpm
Sword, Battleaxe (Average) = 22 hpm

Great Sword, Quarterstaff, Pike, Estoc (Slow) = 22 hpm

Can someone explain why Fast Hunting bow is the same speed as Average 1-handed Sword and Slow 2-handed Great Sword?

This is making comparing things pretty drat obtuse.

On the other hand, I realized that torch is actually competitive with other weapons due to it's +10% burning lash. Might have to start using it.
