While I hate him as an actor (voice/mannerisms just rub me the wrong way), he definitely succeeded in portraying that type of character. I see how people could like that episode, but I was hoping for a bit more humor. I get what Louie is trying to do with this show though.

Yeah he was very obnoxious but that was just to build up to that breakdown. I thought the writing was excellent once Louie began telling him to gently caress off

This show always entertains me, even if it doesn't make me laugh, but I suppose that's been said ad nauseam. This was one of those episodes. I really connected with Louie's character because as a teacher, (and like anyone else, really) I've had to deal with people who are clearly very friendly and "nice" people--people who are genuinely trying to make a personal connection and to get you to like them, but because of psychological issues, are a real chore to be around. Louie put up with Lenny as best he could. He humored him when he really didn't need to until he physically couldn't anymore. I know how that feels. Anyway, take it however you like, but I've watched every single episode of this show, many of them multiple times, and I can't find anything to dislike about it. I'm not saying it's perfect, but there's never been an episode where I've thought "that was bad, I wish I hadn't watched it." At worst, there have been scenes I'd have to really stop and think about for a while. But I think I really "get" what Louis is trying to say with the show and as with this episode, I pretty unanimously agree with his opinions on the world. "Louie" has really struck a chord with me and I'll probably look back on it fondly for the rest of my life as something that has helped me understand myself better and have a better outlook on life. Plus, I really like the surreal poop jokes.

For me, Rappaport's rear end in a top hat cop schtick (and later, "crying child who wants his toy" schtick) was so over-the-top it just made me laugh, instead of making me hate the character.

I liked the episode because everyone knows That Guy, an abrasive rear end in a top hat you don't want to hang out with, but he kind of knows it. The fact that Louis CK had That Guy also be a cop just makes it more awkward, and he has a talent for portraying awkward people. My only problem with store owner in the beginning is that I wish Louie had gone back to his original point: Don't treat the customer like poo poo. She had some points with her generation doing alright for themselves, but he still had a very valid point as a customer. Her playing the race card too just made her more annoying. It was an interesting bookend though - two different kinds of assholes Louie will tolerate, and they both push him far enough that he has to say something about it, but then caves because he doesn't want to fight that hard for it. I missed the standup in this one too. It's conspicuous by its absence when he doesn't have a comedy show segment.

Love this show, been in it since day 1, Louis CK is my favorite comedian still performing... And my favorite episode of the show is the one where Jeremy Renner played the weed guy. Wasn't even laugh out loud funny. Just good rear end tv.

Yeah after last season I'm having a hard time warming back up to this show. About the last episode though, I'm not a huge Michael Rapaport fan but kudos to him for playing the part as well as he did; he was a very, very last minute replacement for Bill Burr (apparently) who pulled out at the very last moment and kind of left Louie hanging in the wind so much so that he nearly axed the entire episode. And the episode was based on a real event that happened to Robert Smigel (comedian, voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog). Also there are only eight episodes this season because originally Louie was going to take another long-rear end break after last season, but got high literally one night before FX was going to announce the break, came up with "great" ideas, got in touch with the president of FX and told him to not announce the break and said he could do the (shorter) season sooner, now armed with all these great ideas. Then he woke up and realized that his pot-addled ideas were poo poo (having to do with the return of Doug Stanhope's "Eddie" character, now a successful investment banker and him and Louie opening up a comedy club together) so he hastily wrote this season because he was basically bound to do it and he couldn't just say no because a lot of people depend on the show being made.

That story's amazing and I'm glad he didn't end up doing another multi-episode thing this season where he's a club owner but the bigger news is that he'll both start shooting the show again later this year and that he's directing his first movie in 15 years in 2016. OK, say what you want about the first two episodes but that was one of the best episodes of the entire show. It was perfectly executed. I laughed so hard and felt for Louie at the same time. Seriously: that was loving amazing. His daughters trying not to laugh at him, Pamela laughing right at him, the make-up, the credits sequence with his brother and the way Louie cracks a smile while his brother laughs. We don't deserve television this good.

I'm really glad the relationship with Pamela is over. I liked her a lot as a friend character, but I'm so sick of watching Louie debase himself over her. I never understood why he the character liked her so much, other than because he is sad and pathetic and enjoys being reminded of that
