The first night she slept in the bed but at some point fell out of it. Last night I put her in her crate and left her in the bedroom with us and after about 5 minutes of whining she stayed silent all night. I'm working with her to try to associate her crate as a good thing, but it's going slow.

Some amount of whining will happen. Just ignore it like a baby that's just being fussy and needs to sleep. Dakota kept me up his entire first night even though I was on the floor next to the kennel. Night #2 I woke up after hours of sleep freaking out thinking that I slept through his crying and he surely had messed in his kennel. I fly off the couch and look inside and the little fucker is on his back legs splayed out and sleeping like a rock.

It might help also if you put something that smells like you in there like a dirty shirt.
