Given that Tekopo has decided to shot Diaz and make a bid for power, lets have some words about Topples, in case there is any doubt. Once a Topple is played (note that a Topple can be discarded without effect if no player decides to buy it), we decide which kind of Prestige points are needed to win the game. This is determined by the current Regimen, NOT by what the Topple card says. This last part is just a modifier to Diaz' Prestige. During Martial Law, the important kind of Prestige Point is Command. You can pretty much Command and Prestige from now on. Each player, in turn order (nimby->bobvonunheil->Tevery Best->Tekopo) can do two things: - Discard a Spy to add +1 Prestige to Diaz (as T.B. is doing) - Flip his Hacendado and chose one of the two options. In this case, the interesting thing is to flip him to a Command side, in order to contest this topple. A flipped Hacendado grants his Prestige Point, but loses his two income. This is akin of raising your banners against Diaz, so the Government cuts his income. Once everyone has decided what to do, each player compares his total Prestige (Command, in this case) points against the Tripartite. The Tripartite is made of Diaz (currently 1 Prestige Point) plus the Command points of the two opponents with less Command Points. This means that the Tripartite (and the ) changes for each player So far, in turn order, we have: nimby: 0 command points, but he could flip his Hacendado to his Command side. bobvonunheil: 1 Command point from Emiliano Zapata. Tevery Best: 0 command points, and cannot flip his Hacendado to anything helpful Tekopo has 2 Command points (Rebelion de las Mascareñas and Defensas Sociales) and can flip his Hacendado for another point. And Diaz, gravely wounded, can only feebly oppose Tekopo with a single Command point. So Tekopo's Tripartite has only 2 Command points (1 from Diaz, 1 from Tevery Best discarding the spy, and 0s from Tevery Best and nimby). Things are dire for the other players  Anyway, I hate to take control away from the players, but in order to speed things up: nimby posted:I forgot that the topple could lower the Command, drat. Now I'll have to flip to something I didn't plan on flipping to nimby is right. He does have to flip in order to prevent Tekopo from winning (The tripartite becomes 2 from Diaz and 1 from either bobvonunheil or nimby), and Tevery Best has to discard, so both of these things happen. Tekopo do you turn your Hacendado? And what's your 3rd action? EDIT: Even if Tekopo's bid has failed, he has managed to make both Tevery Best and (especially) nimby weaker, so it was not a bad move. I think the game is better in person, because downtime in PbP can make you lose track of what you're doing, and re-evaluating the entire table state from scratch can get tiresome.
