Went for the lunch menu at Drake's Ripley (a taxi from Woking which is 35 minutes from Waterloo) and had some wonderful food, the service was flawless; attentive but not overbearing. Only reservation I had was the pork belly didn't have a decent crisp on the skin, although very tender meat due to being sous vide. Not the best restaurant I have been to at that price range but it was better than similarly priced meals I have had at the Maze Grill in Mayfair. My favorite in London is still The French Table in Surbiton.

Can anyone recommend a decent brunch spot? Coming in from Waterloo and heading towards museums tbc, so not too fussed about area. On my phone, so struggling to pick brunch off the map. Cheers

Yeah Bill's just exploded onto the scene, did they buy out an existing chain? Quick big up to Brown and Whyte in Kingly Square off Carnaby Street in Soho, chicken and craft ale specialist. Mighty tasty chicken, leek and bacon burger, and the sweet potato fries with feta and lovely. Also Franco Manca's opened dangerously close to my work, love it, I litterally ate pizza for lunch three times last week. Only a handful of normal pizzas (including cheese and tomato, and cheese tomato and basil) but besides being in love with the anchovy and caper one, the specials are often really good.

I didn't like Latana. The food was nice, but it was made painfully obvious that we weren't cool enough to get served before the trail of 'hip' customers that came in over half an hour after us. Really infuriating when you can see the sodding brownie you ordered sitting on the counter top. Although nothing can beat Fork Deli in Russel Sq. (tied with Bibendum). If anyone wants to experience a New York coffee house without getting on the plane go there. You will be lucky if your food is not literally thrown at you. Conversely I've never had anything but absolutely amazing service at brunchy spots like Modern Pantry, Proper & Sons and Honey and Co. so really they can do better.

I've only been to the Old Street Lantana but had a really nice brunch there. Their avo on sourdough is excellent and the coffee is pretty good.

Thought of L'Autre Pied but we want to go on a Sunday and it's closed. North or Central preferably. Cuisine: modern British or European. Ideas please!

I've mentioned it in this thread before so sorry if it's repetitive, but The Gate is meant to be excellent and there is one just next to Sadler's Wells theatre. My girlfriend is veggie and I'm going to take her there one of these days.

My brother is vegetarian and couldn't get enough of the trofie with potato, green beans & pesto genovese. Rotorino is on Kingsland Road (E8) but is very good, though you may want to check the menu before committing since it changes.

Big blocks of fried tofu in a sweet sticky chilli sauce plus gyoza, rice, edamame and a bit if bean sprout with sesame oil and the sweet salty grated daikon.

Hyper Japan is also on this weekend, so that's something to consider I guess... I heard that Ippudo treat their staff very badly (like not paying minimum wage badly) does anyone know if that is still the case? I know lots of expats won't go there as a result.

I'm going on a first date with a girl in Barkingside. She's drives from work in Leatherhead to Barkinside and doesn't fancy going home and taking a tube into central London. I'm in Kilburn and work near Oxford Circus. I think at this point I want either something on the Essex end of the Central Line or somewhere I can get to on the M25. Bit of a fiddly one I know, but can anyone suggest anything? Even just a town with good options will do.
