I was just making a joke, I know he's the nondescript probably Grayson of the original cartoon. I do like how the scripts are increasingly just becoming excuses for Scott Meville to ham it up, he's just having so much fun. I never knew how much I needed Robin suffering in my life until this cartoon.

Is there a good rundown of the "skippable" episodes of the original show? I somehow missed the boat on it entirely despite being a kid at exactly the right time, though I heard a decent amount about it, and watching TTG (and knowing off the top of my head that it's pretty much considered part of the DCAU, even if it's not canon with B:TAS or Beyond) has gotten me interested. At the same time, I've heard somewhere that you can pretty much divide the show evenly into good "serious" episodes and hot garbage "funny" ones.

From memory, the Doom Patrol, Terra / Deathstroke, and Trigon episodes were all good. As far as "funny" episodes go, the one where Beast Boy gets a fast food job was pretty good too. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. A lot of the other "serious" episodes are exactly the kind of thing TTG was mocking in the "Let's Get Serious" episode though.

Anything dealing with Brother Blood is skippable, unless you want to know why they paired Jinx with Cyborg (or the origin of Cyborg's "Stone" costume from In and Out)

Some of the serious ones aren't good and some of the "funny" ones are actually funny. You're probably better served by watching like the first 5 minutes of an episode, and if it doesn't catch your fancy, then skip to the next one.

Really one of the only 100% skippable episodes is that one with the racist Captain Atom lookalike, and maybe that one where Beast Boy gets mistaken for an alien's pet dog

It was something about how Starfire asked Cyborg if he'd ever felt discriminated against, and he said "Yeah, of course." And everyone thought he was going to say "I'm black," but the written line was "I'm part-robot." And as cheesy as that was, he thought that was a great subversion of overly-serious comic dialogue.

I always thought it was pretty good and even if the message was as subtle as a brick, it was a pretty good message for kids at the time. The dog one however can be thrown in the garbage where it belongs. TwoPair posted:Some of the serious ones aren't good and some of the "funny" ones are actually funny. Sometimes the first five minutes were really weak and then the rest of the time was much better. Like the one where Beast Boy gets the fast food job is pretty lovely for those first 5 minutes and then it turns into something that was pretty drat funny.

Probably easier to say what you should watch, with reasons, than what you shouldn't. Season One (Slade) One-offs: Switched (Freaky Friday formula), Deep Six (skip if you don't care about Wil Wheaton as Aqualad), Mad Mod (Malcolm McDowell chewing scenery) Story episodes: Final Exam, Forces of Nature* (*it's technically part of the season arc story but it sucks), Masks, Apprentice pt I and II Season Two (Terra) One-offs: How Long is Forever? (depressing time travel), Date with Destiny (wacky Starfire/Robin date antics) Story episodes: Terra, Titan Rising, Betrayal, Aftershock pt I and II Season Three (Brother Blood) - probably has the best one-offs One offs: X (Red X/Psycho Robin's alter-ego), Betrothed (Starfire gets married), Haunted (Slade comes back in a creepy way), Spellbound (cool Raven episode that lampshades the IM NOT CREEPY JUST DIFFERENT goth girl crap), Revolution (Mad Mod returns), The Beast Within (a legit good Beast Boy story), Can I Keep Him (origin of Silkie), Bunny Raven (Tom Kenny guest starring in another crazy episode) Story episodes: Deception, Wavelength, Titans East pt I and II Season Four (Trigon): One-offs: Episode 257-494 (making fun of tv tropes), Employee of the Month (the "Beast Boy gets a job" episode which is basically an extended FLCL sendup), Stranded Story episodes: Birthmark, The Prophecy, The End pts I, II, III Season Five: (The Brain/Brotherhood of Evil) This season was different because every episode is connected and they brought in a bunch of guest stars. I think they only one you can skip is the Wacky Races parody (edit: Revved Up) I might be being generous with these episodes but I'm open to other opinions.

Okay so I just finished Legs and I'm pretty sure that the way Beast Boy and Raven play off each other is one of the best things about this show. Seriously they're adorable. e: A little further in my binge and I think I can finally articulate what makes this work so well. Their mutual crush is only ever put in the limelight, like, once out of thirty something episodes I've watched so far, and only for the purpose of a joke about BB being a dumbass. Otherwise, it's pretty much limited to minor actions and little facial expressions and not really treated like a big deal, which makes it feel really natural and sweet compared to... honestly, most TV relationships in general (COUGH loving COUGH FLASH COUGH COUGH COUGHITY COUGH). I think the incredibly forced awkward flirty banter they attempt in front of Terra and Aqualad on their double date might be one of my favorite moments in the series. I also love the joke that Beast Boy just played that song to ad naseum until Terra couldn't stand it anymore.

The funniest part is? Everything the pic maker said about the old show's characterization still applies to the new show. The new show just bolts things on to the old characterization, rather than remaking characters outright, which is part of why it owns so much.

Or that with TTGO being the most popular show on CN right now, there could easily be talks for another more serious teen titans show now more than ever before. This show has more than likely quadrupled the potential fans of Teen Titans and planted a seed bed of kids that could probably live with and enjoy another series down the line, comedy or action. Everyone from the executives, writers, sound producers, voice cast down to kids that were possibly four years old back in 2003, yet now love Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Beastboy and Starfire; they all love this show. The sky is the limit for the franchise right now and yet some people still can get over THE BETRAYAL of finding out GO wasn't "a real super hero show" on April 23rd, 2013. CN and DC could likely announce a return to old TT form in 2018 and the die hards would probably attempt to boycott it because they'll never forgive that GO ever existed.

I have to wonder how old these fans are. I watched the show when I was 13-14 (which I imagine is roughly the target age) and I'm 24 in a few weeks, it seems weird for someone my age to make such a big deal out of "betraying the fandom" (I bet these are the same schlubs who didn't like Brave and the Bold). Was this show really popular among younger kids or live on in reruns for years? Because this seems like weird behavior for a fanbase that should be in their early twenties or so.
