My grandmother had eye surgery for cataracts. She isn't too much with it anymore, and knew it only as the laser eye surgery. I swear I am not making this up, but she told us that she wishes she never had it because now she cannot wear plastic-frame glasses because she is afraid that the lasers in her eyes will cause them to melt.

Or after that she was in a panic because she couldnt get the mouse to move any further on the screen because the mouse was at the end of the mousepad. #justgrandmathings

My sweet 84 year old grandmother had wifi hooked up in her apartment so that she could download books on her kindle. Except she didn't plug the router and shoved it behind the bed. I spent two hours trying to get it theory over the phone with her. Finally she called a technician to come out and plug the thing in after she swore to me it was plugged in. She now talks about the time I cost her $60.

Also a rackmount PC is a bitch to work on, since you need to de-rack it every time you need to get inside. On that note, stuff like the Boss BR8 and Yamaha AW16G are totally dead. They still sell some models but all-in-one recording devices are pretty pointless. It's much smarter to use a computer with an interface that supports ADAT and grab a few 8 channel ADAT A/D converters. It'll cost a little more, but then you're not limited to only the channels and effects that the recording box has built in. Hell, there are even digital mixers that have USB, so you can do 8in/8out or whatever with just the mixer and a USB cable. And by learning a software DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), you can apply that knowledge to nearly any other DAW and be ready to record right off the bat. Also all the plugins you bought will most likely work with the new DAW, so no need to repurchase them. E: Also I believe guitar amps are obsolete. Sure, they're used by tons of musicians, but an AxeFX will nail any tone you could possibly think of and will be indistinguishable from a "real" amps recorded tone. If you want stage volume and don't want to use the venue's monitoring system, you can run the AxeFX into a power amp and cab. Besides sounding as good as analog amps, it's way easier to carry to shows and will guarantee a consistent tone thanks to the global EQ it has. People will always want the glowing tubes and the deafening volumes they produce, but I don't miss the maintenance, upkeep and costly troubleshooting my tube amps gave me. I remember reading all the horror stories before I had mine done 8 or 9 years ago. This one guy got infections and scarring and had to have the procedure redone multiple times and the doctor hosed up just about everything that could be hosed up. The result? He has to wear glasses and he sometimes gets halos at night. Not the desired result by any means, but that's with everything going wrong. In the end it's a reset button for your eyes. I went from about 20/200 to 20/25. I will need glasses again at some point, but my vision will probably never be as bad as it was. As for why it's not advertised as much anymore - everyone who wanted Lasik got Lasik. Sure there are always new patients, but nothing like the huge deluge of backed up demand there once was. So a lot of the providers went out of business and the ones that are left don't need to advertise as much to get patients.

To be fair, 1) Not everyone knows that there's ethanol in their gas 2) Not everyone knows gas with ethanol is bad for carbonated engines 3) There might not be any gas stations within reasonable distance that have ethanol-free gas. But if they do know 1+ 2, and they can get ethanol-free gas, then there's no excuse.

Mixing fuel stabilizer into your gas to prevent it from turning to varnish and keeping the tank topped up so it breathes less during temperature changes (which limits the amount of airborne moisture the ethanol can mix with) solves like 90% of fuel related problems. Or you can get ethanol-free gas (and stabilizer if it'll be around for 30+ days) and not have to deal with it.

Without my contacts/glasses my vision is terrible, to the point where i wouldn't be able to function in society, but since it can be corrected with lenses to 20/20 or close I'm not considered legally blind. Without my contacts the farthest something will be in focus is about 4-5" away from my eyes - that's really not far, and someone 10 feet away would be a blob of color (which I probably couldn't see anyways thanks to colorblindness, lol).

I'm 20/blind as gently caress in my left eye with corrective lenses. I've been told multiple times not to bother with LASIK even though it could correct my right eye. This bummed me out because I'm stereoblind as poo poo. Went to a Gravity in 3D with a friend because they really wanted the 3D tickets. Tossed the glasses on because of the blurring on the screen and almost had a panic attack because the bolt was flying out of the screen at me. No loving idea how this works but I see every movie I can in 3D now.

I'd love to get lasik but I can't as I have keratoconus (distorting of the cornea) I've had some surgery done on my eyes to stop it getting worse and also have an intac ring fitted in my left eye to reduce the keratoconus but I'm still going to have to use glasses/contacts for the rest of my life, I am quite lucky though as many who have this condition require rigid lenses which are incredibly uncomfortable, I get pretty bad ghosting in my left eye and slight ghosting in my right eye it's very weird and can be a problem when driving at night.

Have you guys seen an ophthalmologist? I went a few months ago and needed cataract surgery even though I'm really young. My vision has improved drastically and I can drive without glasses. I was like 20/70 before even with glasses.

My LASIK surgery took 22 minutes total a from the time I walked into the doctor's office to the time I left. The process is absolutely painless and you don't see anything out of the eye they're working on until the surgery is done. The exam takes about an hour and is pretty non-intrusive as well. Do it.

It could be like red diesel, which is taxed at a lower rate and can only be legally used in vehicles not driven on the street. If a gas station is caught allowing customers to fill their truck with it, they can be subject to major fines.
