So did y'all like or dislike DS2? I listened to it for the first time and most of it sounded pretty samey to me and it didn't do anything to convince me that Future can carry an album by himself.

It might be my favourite album of 2015 thus far and I don't think I've listened to anything else since it dropped.

But it's a pretty good way to get someone to spend money on buying you an av and sig. Maybe I should be really obnoxious and get an upgrade myself

Moral of the story: be careful what you wish for.

You are welcome.
I don't know how I feel about Future. I listen to individual songs and I like him but I find him kind of grating listening to a whole album. I probably just need to keep at it. If you'd asked me a week ago I'd have told you I couldn't stand Future's music so I guess I'll have his face tattooed on my back by next week. Once I read up on the Atlanta scene and Magic City/Esco/etc I kind of looked at it from a new perspective.

RE: Grimechat- I went back a few pages looking but saw no mention of Devlin. He's pretty good as well and if you hate him then there's a Skepta verse at the end to cleanse your palate.

I don't think DS2 holds up to his other albums in terms of production or variety. It's too many lean anthems and that same muddy sound from 56 Nights just more. He talks about it on the album rejecting the pop direction he was being pushed in, but his most radio friendly songs (Trophy, Astronaut Chick, straight up) are great.

It's his poo poo and if he wants to make trap music forever that's cool but I like them Kelly Rowland duets too.

This is pedantic but the chorus on Señorita is a sample from Covered in Money it wasn't recorded for Summertime 06.

Problem I have with him (and Joey Bada$$ and Astro and a couple other similar dudes) is that while I appreciate the throwback nature of what they're doing, it seems they're too easily getting stuck in that groove and not actually developing themselves. Like I used to be really down for that style because it was kinda refreshing, and it had the 90's production/lyrical styling with less overt aggression-you're not hearing from the dude that's in the poo poo, but the dude who's in that area and has to watch that poo poo while trying to get out. But none of them really moved out of that lane, so now it's just like you're doing softer versions of classic albums and whatnot.

Also Future's the truth, although I can see how a whole album would wear if you're not down with his vibe. 56 Nights is still one of the best things I've heard this year (or in awhile, tbh), and DS2 isn't quite as good imo but is still a really strong album.

I'll have to check into some of the grime stuff posted as well, I've always kinda liked the few things I've heard but keeping track of it (or any of the stuff in the whole UK bass scene) is kinda a pain since it's often just a bunch of loose singles and whatnot.

Lastly ya'll know me way too well so I don't even need to speak on certain other stuff.

Not that it should surprise anybody but Hopsin's album that just came out is terrible, I don't think he knows how to break out of being a kid angry at the world and his label. It was somewhat entertaining back when that was actually the case. Now that he owns his own label and is actually rather financially successful he just sounds very silly.

To think, I used to kinda like him. :/

this is a review based off of listening to a few minutes of several tracks, I want my 10 minutes back, don't make the same mistake I made

Fahrenheit 1/15: 1 and 2: Think the titles are "The Truth is Out There" and Revenge of the Nerds. These are the two you should definitely listen to.

I recommend Enemy of the State, but I've heard mixed opinions from others. (Popular Demand is a for sure listen though.)

Friend of the People, is meh, It has SLR though which is the best track Lupe has ever put out though. And I kinda like Lightwork and Lupe Back.

edit: Oh and Lillies/Hallie Selassie/Mazinger Z from the Lost in the Atlantic Mixtape were good. Those are the only 3 that were released from it though.

Bishop Nehru is immature and he needs more experience. I think he has potential (been saying this for like 2 years). I listen to a little bit of him and his rhymes are self-indulgent. Like a NY sounding Kanye. He talks are about kid stuff and feelings and what his friends think and blah blah. He does this thing were he get lost in his own flows like "I'm grinding while shinning with diamonds still climbing this rhyming..." and it makes his verses even more corny. DOOM does some of the same stuff but has better control of his skills. Nehru has time, sorta like Donald in the 5 Heartbeats. "He will be a great writer one day when he suffers more."
