It's really great. You have to install one app, then install another app. Then you have to open your browser and log into the amazon website which apparently doesn't have a mobile version and click around to find the video you want to watch. Then hope it launches the amazon video app. I'm fine with it being on Amazon because i already have it, but their instant video "app" is not an app, it just plays a video from the browser.

This might cause some interesting fallout.
There was a lot of fuss about Amazon not paying their taxes in the UK, with a lot of "common folk" calling them on their bullshit.

Now the self same people will have to pay Amazon to get their fix of Clarkson.

Or they will just stream it, as bizarrely watching streams isn't illegal in the UK and a lot of the EU; making streams of copyright content is illegal. Hence why TVMC is going through such a rise in popularity.

Also next day shipping with Prime in the UK is very very good, now works 7 days a week to everywhere in the UK except the remote Scottish highlands, and also have same day shipping in a few places now, US is falling behind in the delivery race.

The US is slightly larger. Then again most Dallas has same day from Amazon on certain items.

I actually have to fight with Amazon to try to get them NOT to deliver packages on the weekend. I have my shipping address setup for work so I can be sure nothing is being left unprotected on my porch at home. Even though I have it selected to not attempt weekend delivery, the USPS still tries to deliver on Saturday and even Sunday to my work.

Is amazon ever going to expand to smaller countries? We have broadband in 90% of households and everyone shops online, yet amazon still only has a very stupid site that sells only ebooks.
I'd honestly get prime for streaming (they have some other stuff i want to watch) and the cheap shipping but appearently they don't want my money.
Deals with local TV stations is hardly a realistic alternative in 2015 anymore than releasing the show on Laserdisc is.

Good news! The Dacia Sandero CRTC is forcing providers to move to an a-la-carte model as of March next year. Of course we've yet to see how it'll play out, but it does reduce the likelihood of these kinds of shenanigans.

They would need to build a local warehouse network in your "smaller country" in order to offer physical goods, and would need to set up a local datacenter to do streaming to your region, both of which take time and money.

Both of those concerns are miniscule compared to negotiating rights with the content owners for streaming in another country. It's often not worth the effort.

They can fulfill orders to Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark (for example) fine from Germany, probably closer than the average American is to a fulfillment center. Same goes for data, pretty sure the datalinks between Germany and the Netherlands can handle some streaming video. E: Appearently they already host AWS and a bunch of other stuff in Amsterdam.

They could still offer their own original content. Netflix is also a sad joke compared to the US version but still very popular.

im going to guess that Australia gets screwed again and we have to resort to torrents to get this. I dont have prime because Amazon.com.au is a kindle bookstore and im not likely to sign up to prime because minimum shipping from the US to Aus is around a week and a half and costs around 75% of the value of what you order, IF they even deliver outside of the cont. US anyway!

If Channel 9 or whoever had it last time picks this up - it will be a travesty. It was a huge cockup of mixing old episodes with new ones, questionable 'fast tracking' and cutting parts out to fit their time slots. Now if SBS got their hands on the rights I would be happy and actually turn my TV on to watch broadcast TV.

Oh hell yeah, I ended up getting it via :filez: because of the absolute clusterfuck that the commercial stations made of it- comparing the two there were noticeable differences in episodes where one of their major ad customers cars got rubbished and strangely enough that bit got dropped to fit in adverts...

Amazon does have some pretty substantial music licensing deals for their various streaming and sale offerings, so while they won't have the BBC's wonderful ability to use literally whatever they want I doubt they'll have much trouble.

Why would Amazon not be subject to the same copyright restrictions as Netflix and broadcast tv? I mean, they certainly could choose to pay for all that music if they wish, but I'd rather money be put into the show itself then just get decent buyout music. The segments will still be cool if you edit the piece specifically to the music you use. The problem before was the BBC would use whatever popular music they want without paying royalties, edit the piece to that music, then just swap out to another track for America.

It's just a matter of a different deal. Amazon's already got a streaming license to the song, as a Prime member I can stream it for free right now: http://www.amazon.com/Theme-From-The-A-team/dp/B000S41FDY/

It's hard to believe they'd have trouble getting the license to use it in their show that will be streaming to literally the same potential group of people.
