I liked Vicious Lies alright.

What about Mel-Man? He never gets talked about but didn't he have a big hand in most things Dre produced?

I HATED the Phantogram tracks so I can't imagine liking this album.

I liked all the more out there tracks, I just thought Big Boi sucked over them. Problem seemed to be he was/is totally unable to change his tone/flow/whatever so he never actually tried to adjust to make his poo poo fit in with what was happening around him.

I'd hope he'd go back to more grounded/"regular" production on anything he does in the future but that seems unlikely since I don't know if he has that fanbase anymore.

Big Boi will always have an audience because he was part of one of the most popular rap groups of all time. Even if he is the George Harrison of a two-man group.

Was Tyler's new album any good outside of the song that had Wayne on it? He's touring with Rocky and apparently Danny Brown opening

CyHi is loving dope but I'm worried about what he does without the 'Ye backing

Step 1, stop releasing classics like Black Hystori for free:
Step 2, do whatever Big Sean and Common did and release the music on your own
Step 3, please please please do another Flex Freestyle

It was pretty good if uneven. Based on his last album and Wolf, I think you gotta change up what you expect from him. Dude's not gonna make anything that really sounds like Bastard anymore. His best stuff is a lot more mellow now, and it's like really just...delicate? I don't mean that as a bad thing at all, but he talks about Stevie Wonder being a big influence on what he's making now and you can definitely hear it.

Not if his intention is to do things on his own.

Agreed though the track is good, pretty much the level I expect from CyHi these days.

In his early years he definitely never seemed liked someone who could spit straight bars. Maybe he's just wisened up with age.

Lil B can actually rap decently when he cares to. He just rarely does, partially because he has absolutely zero quality control and partially due to stylistic choices he makes.

I don't know if he's "wizened up" or whatever since that style got him a decent little fanbase and was/is like super-influential on most every sub-mainstream rap out there that's not straight gangsta poo poo. And a lot of people totally dig the non-sequiturs and adlibs and sloppy rhyming. Although I will say his release schedule seems to have cut dramatically since his heyday so maybe he is evolving a bit and putting more thought behind his music? The mind of the Based God is inscrutable and arcane.
