Do you not see a difference between someone literally torturing a toad by keeping it alive while it pulls off legs or skins it or whatever and someone who doesn't feel bad because he tried the 'stun and decapitate' method but missed the decapitation? edit - That is to say missed the clean decapitation and then immediately finished the toad off?

in other news my glasses have been missing for two days and I feel exhausted and headachey from squinting at things for 48 hrs. I cleaned my apartment top to bottom yesterday and did not find them. This pretty much means it's time for new glasses. This is a really bad time for new glasses.

I guess I am a pragmatic socialist. People should recognise the plight of others and deal with objective issues in ways that as a freak accident of sapience, can think further ahead to the immediate goal. For example cane toads are invasive and need to be controlled and probably eliminated because if the immense pain and death they cause our natural habitat. If you don't know they are across about the top 1/3 of Australia, maybe more. But it is not the fault of the cane toad. They are not evil, and cannot ever be evil. They are just behaving as they are. It is our fault they are loving up everything, so it is our obligation to deal with it. As there is no moral fault for the animal, we should perform what is necessary in a way that is the least painful and harmful way to the individual toad, while still being effective.

When you present arguments it just always seems like they are intentionally contrarian, and that (maybe just perceived, maybe not) lack of sincerity combined with a general lack of self-deprecation just makes me not trust you on that stuff.
