Beer4TheBeerGod posted:*snip* I'd say it boils down to the pattern of behavior that CIG has actually displayed up until this point, as opposed to the one they pretend they are to everyone else including themselves. Granted, you'd always have assholes that'd pick on Sandi or any of the other girls ect. for idiotic reasons, but those people would never gain significant traction from the rest of the moreso reasonable folks if CIG had just genuinely been all-out open from the start and actually savvy enough to know that, when you're basing a crowdfunding campaign that is this heavily reliant on the character factor of your company and the personality of your developers/visible people - appearances matter twice as much. So if you say you are doing 'total open development' - go all the way. Instead what CIG has consistently done is mistake 'open development' for pissing in backers' ears and calling it rain. After a few years of this even the zealots start to expect, that when CIG says something is coming out in a certain window it really isn't going to come out then. That when they say they have a specific plan for a ship of theirs, that plan can be flipped on its head in as little as a year (the Cutlass). And from such dishonesty, that people learn on a subconscious level through being conditioned by CIG's bullshit communication, they learn that their word tends not to mean diddly squat, even if they will defend them up and down on the internet because they need to defend their own 'investment' by doing so. In this way, when CIG quips about something, that is actually not that hugely important (in this case Sandi) and repeats its pattern of bullshitting, the misogynists jump all over it with their own bozo theories and the rest of the crowd that isn't trying to actively crawl up CIG's rear end can't help but subconsciously ask themselves: "Hmm...well, CIG has been BSing and hiding so many things before - ergo, who knows what they're hiding this time!" Even though, in this case, they might not have much to hide at all and would've saved themselves a LOT of hassle upfront, if they had realized from the start that character of all of their prominent faces and players would matter a lot in this kind of crowdfunded project, so yea - just say from the start that Sandra's married to Chris, that Ben's been a slobbering fanboy with no qualifications, ect. - then we can all move on from this foundation and they don't need to seriously respond to anything coming this way, since the moreso reasonable people will answer these dumbass questions for them. But if they keep acting like their own personality and qualifications and appearances DON'T matter, in a project that is all about the cult of personality of Christ Roberts and his 'legendary game devs homies', then man...that will eat up so much of their energy in the future that they could spend on constructive things instead. Again, all of this is something or whoever the gently caress is in charge of PR and such should've figured out at least 2 years ago but...

There is no mystery as to why they play down the fact that CR and Sandi are married. When you start up a project for a bunch of nerds which is better for a public face? A married woman or a single pretty looking model? And i am absolutely certain it was not Chris's idea but rather the brainchild of the newly positioned marketing director.
