The more I watch, the more I realize this is really, really just Colbert Report 2.0. And I love it.

The real difference is going to be the interviews when he's not playing the character.

I think Colbert just moved The Colbert Report to CBS. And it's awesome.

So this is how we get sponsors? I'm in.

Old Town Road to EGOT

That Mentalist switch reminded me a lot of Conan's old Walker Texas Ranger lever, and he totally killed it with the monologue, so I'm very okay with this show so far :) Hope he's able to keep it up. It does seem like more of the Colbert Report minus the political character.

Luckily, this show probably won't be directly sabotaged by Letterman.

Also, even though it's only a few years later, I imagine the dynamics of television ratings are quite different.

Really hope colbert is allowed to push boundaries. A soft, safe comedy vehicle to push lovely movies or whatever celebrities want to plus would be the worst.

I don't even have an image of what I want to be. I have nothing. All that exists is zero.
I think the last Leno experiment proved that networks shouldn't care about old people during late night.

It also works as a call-back to James Corden complaining about his lead-in being Mentalist re-runs until Stephens show starts. He did Talking Mentalist Repeats intro gags for a while.

Hopefully tonight. I wish I had good video editing skills.

I kinda hope Colbert needs to eat an Oreo every time he runs a trump story. For the next year and a half.
