so BK I am left with a dilemma. What should I do? Should I: - Do a thing that will either confirm me as town or condemn me as scum, or - Do a different thing that will confirm someone else as town but severely limit my ability to play the game which is the better option for me to do BK?

I don't really see why Ecco would lie but I'm just not seeing how this confirms BottleKnight. Only thing I can think of is if Ecco's bodyguard or vigilante shot is alignment dependant.

I feel like Ecco's statement assumed knowledge we don't have - but given that they flipped town, I see no reason why they would have implied BK was town while going out of the game if they didn't know for sure.
