I was watching from lower level seats along the third base line. Yeah, looked like their might have been some filming going on. Several cameras near the stage, and then a robotic one near the right field wall which would swoop over the crowd. There was supposed to be a helicopter hovering above, and although you couldn't see it from where we were sitting, I'm pretty sure I heard it between songs. Also, it was loud. Real loud. Ears are still ringing.

Going this Friday! Saw them twice on the Black Ice tour, felt lucky to have done so when it was still the original gang. Looking forward to seeing Chris Slade on board this time, I really liked Razor's Edge. Been spoiled on the set list a little more than I'd like, but I'm all kinds of pumped to see them in an outdoor stadium this time.

Sitting in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. By far one of the best concerts I have ever been to. We were 7th row, right in front of the right screen. Still reeling from it. I have no voice. It's dead, Jim. At the Chicago show, there were somewhat longer than usual gaps between songs - seemed like thirty seconds or so, although maybe not even that long - which seemed abnormal (when I saw them on the BI tour, they pretty much just went right from song to song). During these gaps, the lights were down (band not visible). Did they do this at other shows? Wondering this was only done at the Chicago show because it was supposedly taped for a video release, and maybe they wanted that time to get crowd audio, etc. Or maybe Angus just needed a breather, because he's sixty years old.

The L.A. show had a little bit of time between songs. I figured it was just because of the setup needed for a few of them (like the giant bell or Rosie and stuff). It's such a big show with so many lighting cues and whatnot I didn't really find it too odd. Here's an image of them playing "You Shook Me All Night Long" I took, which I think kind of sums up the concert.  I'm finding now that I've had the time to think about it that the reason they put on such a great show is that the band is almost secondary to the experience. I mean, everyone's there to see them play, but their songs are so iconic that you're really there to sing things like "You Shook Me.." and "Highway to Hell" with 55,000 other people. Not many bands can pull that kind of thing off nowdays. Even if you don't remember their setlist or some of the specifics, you probably will remember toasting to strangers near your seats during "Have a Drink on Me," or chanting THUNDER as loud as possible or all of the light-up horns around you the whole time. It's just so much fun, and they're the house band providing the soundtrack to the party. One of the reviews posted earlier in the thread said that AC/DC plays in stadiums but still feels like they're playing an intimate venue. I didn't understand it then, but it makes complete sense now. The sound at my show was so loving bad. May have been where we were sitting, but it was just a blown out boom-y mess of indiscernible noise. Really sucked.

Last AC/DC show I went to Angus forgot to tape his old man droopy balls to his inner thigh so when he duck walked around stage everyon in the front row could see his disgusting 80 year old balls and I was screaming at how much it was like an intimate venue where I can see his balls to the people I was toasting in the seats next to me.

I was lucky enough to be there for that performance. It was a definite highlight, but man the sound was SO bad where I was sitting that it really ruined the whole experience.

New Zealand wrapped up this week! The weather in Wellington caused some sound problems, and the band had to leave the stage after just two songs in order to get things fixed (Angus tried using a cord, but it made no difference). After a chorus of booing, they finally came back on 40 minutes later and finished the show, though the sound quality was still suspect throughout. Also, a whole new swath of shows has been announced for 2016! Arenas in the U.S. beginning in Feburary, then more stadiums in Europe! Tickets are on sale Friday! http://www.acdc.com/tour

Well, I guess in the backs of our minds we all knew this would likely be AC/DC's last hurrah, but this more or less makes it official  Now I'm really glad that I got to see them in Toronto on the first leg of the North American tour, but I live in Buffalo and was really hoping to see them again.So I'm interpreting this as Brian can't play any more shows at all--I'm not a doctor, but shouldn't he have been wearing earplugs to prevent this? Or are earplugs while on stage at an AC/DC concert like putting your finger in a dyke? More importantly, who the hell are they going to get to fill in for him??? It would have to be somebody famous, right?

Yeah he uses custom in ear monitors like pretty much every other big time band. Unlike pretty much every other band apparently they actually run all their amps on stage, so at any given moment it could be between 130-140dB up there. The problem is even the best earplugs can only knock down about 33dB, which is still unsafe for any extended period of time. How the rest of the band isn't also nearly deaf I have no idea.

I actually don't hate that idea. Grohl is one of the biggest modern rock stars, he knows the songs, and can put out the energy in his shows to match AC/DC's. Look, Dave Grohl might be a decent singer and an AC/DC fan, but the crowd that goes to see AC/DC is not the crowd that goes to see Foo Fighters. Utterly different styles of music. AC/DC needs an old-style classic rock/heavy metal singer. Think Guns 'N' Roses, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, etc. Even more recent/heavier acts like Metallica, Rob Zombie, Pantera, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Slayer, Anthrax, etc. are closer than FF.

They belong to the Nirvana/Pearl Jam/System Of A Down crowd. AC/DC's is the Joe Six Pack/Good Ol' Boy crowd. Music tonalities are way different. AC/DC values a basic beat, a strong riff, and screeching guitar solos. Foo Fighters are more layered and melodic in comparison.
