Napa Cabbage Salad

Ingredients:

1 head napa cabbage
1 bunch minced green onions
1/3 cup butter
1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles, broken
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

1 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup cider vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Finely shred the head of cabbage; do not chop. Combine the green onions and cabbage in a large bowl, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Make the crunchies: Melt the butter in a pot. Mix the ramen noodles, sesame seeds and almonds into the pot with the melted butter. Spoon the mixture onto a baking sheet and bake the crunchies in the preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven, turning often to make sure they do not burn. When they are browned remove them from the oven.

Make the dressing: In a small saucepan, heat vinegar, oil, sugar, and soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, let boil for 1 minute. Remove the pan from heat and let cool.
Combine dressing, crunchies, and cabbage immediately before serving. Serve right away or the crunchies will get soggy.

Well I did it, I cashed out my stuff on the gray market. A total profit of a little over $100. It's definitely not too late to cash out at a profit, you have to move fast though, and cut aggressively if nobody bites.

Now I can fully enjoy the trainwreck. :toot:

Having played so much Elite, I can't help but think that even if Star Citizen ever came out (it won't, but for the sake of argument) its progression curve would be all kinds of hosed up. In Elite you have a reasonable clear progression in the form of getting bigger and better ships to do various activities: (fighting/Hauling/exploring), but in Star Citizen, you'd potentially be starting with some ships that are basically the endgame level ships.

Also they have way too many variants of each ship. It's clear they did that to have more to announce and market JPEGs, and have people buy and upgrade to the better versions of the JPEGs, but if that were in an actual game it would be a clusterfuck.

I made this the other day, kind of pricey though,

Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds kielbasa
3 cups chopped yellow onions (2 large onions)
2 cups chopped leeks, well cleaned (2 leeks, white parts only)
1/4 cup good olive oil
1 1/2 pounds small potatoes (red or white)
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
2 dozen littleneck clams, scrubbed
2 dozen steamer clams, scrubbed
2 pounds mussels, cleaned and debearded
1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, in the shell
3 (1 1/2 pound) lobsters
2 cups good dry white wine

Slice the kielbasa diagonally into 1-inch thick slices. Set aside. Saute the onions and leeks in the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed 16 to 20 quart stockpot over medium heat for 15 minutes, until the onions start to brown.

Layer the ingredients on top of the onions in the stockpot in this order: first the potatoes, salt, and pepper; then the kielbasa, little neck clams, steamer clams, mussels, shrimp, and lobsters. Pour in the white wine. Cover the pot tightly and cook over medium-high heat until steam just begins to escape from the lid, about 15 minutes. Lower the heat to medium and cook another 15 minutes. The clambake should be done. Test to be sure the potatoes are tender, the lobsters are cooked, and the clams and mussels are open. Remove the lobsters to a wooden board, cut them up, and crack the claws. With large slotted spoons, remove the seafood, potatoes, and sausages to a large bowl and top with the lobsters. Season the broth in the pot to taste, and ladle over the seafood, being very careful to avoid any sand in the bottom.

scotch eggs

10 oz (300g) ground pork
2 scallions, white and green parts, finely chopped
2 tsp dried Italian herbs
Pinch of crushed red hot pepper
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
1/3 cup all purpose flour
Vegetable oil, for deep frying
1 large egg, beaten
¾ cup plain dried bread crumbs

In a large bowl, mix the pork, scallions, herbs, and hot pepper. Season with salt and pepper.

2. Coat the eggs in flour. Divide the pork mixture into 4 equal portions. Working with one portion at a time, flatten the pork into a thick disk. Place an egg in the center and gather up the pork to completely enclose the egg.

3. Pour enough oil to come halfway up the sides of a large, deep saucepan and heat to 350°F (180°C). Beat the eggs in a shallow dish Spread the bread crumbs in another dish. Dip each pork-wrapped egg into the beaten egg to coat, then roll in the bread crumbs.

4. Carefully place the eggs in the hot oil and fry for 3–4 minutes, or until golden. Serve hot or cold.
