The battle over "Sandi's Marketing Education & Credentials" being waged between Sandi and Derek has been the source of a lot of ongoing discussion here. Derek certainly seems to be getting the better of her, prompting constant changes to online resumes, deletion of LinkedIn profiles, removal of facts from websites, tweets and interviews that always seem to have a tidy anecdote about Sandi's recent discovery of proof of her education / career experience, etc... So this is just another chapter in that longstanding war of words-- one that, as usual, prompts more questions than answers.

The other thing that stands out-- to me-- is just how horrible INN is at conducting an interview. Sandi could've interviewed herself better than Sir Bowtie did.

It's worse than that.

She tweeted a Dean letter she purported (we think it's fake) to have received in undergrad. Think about this. Don't you think she would have, you know, posted an image of her marketing degree if she wanted to prove me wrong and silence me?

We do not believe that she actually has one. Period. End of story.

Also they're pretty close to eachother. I used to live in Fort Lauderdale and its such a weird place to live during the recession and probably now. Very clear boundaries between rich/poor areas, lots of crime. It was actually kind of sad.

The issue is not about her having some marketing "experience". It is that she has ZERO marketing footprint ANYWHERE on planet Earth. No jobs. No references. No footprint. Nothing. Only Star Citizen. That's it. Before that, she was Chris's intern at his failed movie company, Ascendant Pictures, where they met.

Further, she has lied - on the record (one example @ 18:45 and they removed this one but we have it saved locally) - that she went to UCLA and has two marketing degrees. Setting aside two of the deleted (we have them of course, don't be silly) LinkedIn profiles with that information etc.

This is just damage control and it's not going to solve any of the problems they're about to be hit with.

I don't understand why people keep asking this question, there was never such a thing as ethics in games journalism. Can these people point to me when these legendary ethical times occured? They've always been a mouthpiece for games developers that got direct and indirect incentives to give good reviews. For gently caress's sake the Battle Cruiser 3000AD that was released in an unplayable state got raving reviews just weeks before hitting the stores, that's how I got burned. We're in 2015 and these people are only now discovering that games journalism is useless for anything other than getting a general idea of what the game is about?

They respond quickly to chargeback threats cause they can't win chargeback cases. Lol.

Also anyone that paid via credit card shouldn't have to eat the transaction fee. CIG is supposed to pay those.

Hey Derek, when you sue CIG next month to release their financials, can you also ask for proof of Sandi's marketing degree? It might sound insignificant, but couldn't lying about her credentials go towards proving impropriety at a very high level within the company, as well as nepotism and fraud in paying someone clearly unqualified to hold such a position?

Also I hear she's a big meanie who doesn't like black people and/or pubes, so it would also be good karma to embarrass her a bit.

Thanks!

I'll stand by it that Giant Bomb is the most ethical group of journalists. The loving stories Jeff has told about bullshit like the BMX XXX guys flying journalist to a strip club for a promotion event and the crew's reaction was like, Ew, no thats loving disgusting and sleazy and we are not going to waste time and money to go to a loving strip club for a promotion event. Or the video of Jeff and Ryan opening the package of ground meat with bullet casings, hair, a flash drive, and fake body parts inside. It was a marketing package from bulletstorm. Once again they declared it as sick and a waste of money. Just really strange stories that make it clear that marketers in the games industry have NO idea what they are doing and love to waste budget. I may sound like a shill, however they are the only group that I have seen as trustworthy.
