who said it was a gotcha?

Claims that CIG Santa Monica is a highly racist environment due to Sandi's prejudice are speculative and based on anonymous claims in an article... I don't personally place too much stock in that particular assertion -- I think its easier to believe she thinks herself superior to nearly everyone beneath her, regardless of race. If emails or videos come out that corroborate the claims, well, then I'd change my mind. And yeah, that WOULD be a gotcha moment.

Claims that Star Citizen's lore is derivative of a myriad of other sci-fi properties (films, games, etc.) are incontrovertible-- and its been discussed here before. I just don't think we've started to make a list of which properties they are reappropriating and where. You may find it unworthy of discussion -- I find it worthier than beating the "Sandi is a racist" gong, which, incidentally, is why I brought it up.

Sure, the WC story is formulaic and derivative... so is Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix... that's not the bad thing. The bad this is that Chris Roberts is a lovely hack of a director, Sandi is a terrible person, and Ben doesn't know when to keep quiet.

If Frontier builds some buggy race course, perhaps with tunnels so you couldn't fly over everything, we'd have a Mario Kart for spacenerds and that could be a bloody blast. (And a lot more fun than the ludicrous race through rings inside a city mess that CIG put out.)

They'd have to release a financial statement along with taxes paid for us to know that. They refuse to release anything related to their financials. They better hope to God they paid the taxmen in the U.S., U.K., and now Germany. I don't know about Germany, but in the U.S. and U.K. they will fry your rear end for not paying your taxes.

I don't disagree that it's derivative, but so what? Most media is derivative. It's all in the execution, although that might not SC's great strong suit either.

I am not too familiar with their microtransaction scheme outside of this design (which I can actually dig)

quote:

Monetization: Eternal Crusade is limited free-to-play. All players can play for free, but will be limited to playing as Ork Boyz (the basic soldier of the Ork faction) at the game start. Paying players who purchase a copy of the full game will be able to play as all classes from all factions. Also, players will be able to buy specific factions from a game store that will also sell faction appropriate cosmetic items, operating via a microtransaction service.

Maybe this is some American thing (I know yanks have 'hard' cider - are you on about the non-alcoholic stuff we call apple juice?), but decent cider from the UK west country gets you proper hosed up, and tastes damm good to boot.

And IPA is about as cool with hipsters as fixed gear bikes are, so very much several years ago. Anyone who likes their booze bitter-tasting and complex is still happily necking the stuff, and giving zero shits.

American cider sucks and either tastes like a weak lager with apple juice in it or watered down apple juice. English cider is tasty and I would drink it more when I'm over there if I didn't love English or Scotch ales

yea, looks wise I think they're pretty good, it's just the control fluidity, feel (You can't strafe while running, it does a weird curving turn thing), and weapon feedback that needs the most work atm. Especially compared to Space Marine's melee combat, which was really good and smashy. But they're making consistent improvement so it should end up being pretty good.
