I wouldn't fault someone staying at a paying job utilizing their abilities while looking for a new place of employment. I think it would make for an interesting interview though.

Yes, i think it's just the employees taking advantage of knowing that their boss has 43 million in paycheck money to hand out. They are just doing business till something else comes along that can be a bit more long term because this project is reaching the halfway/end mark.

Is it a case that its "developers" have blown all the their money on hookers and coke, playing on the indoctrinated masses who are too invested at this stage to cough up more money/chase off any nay sayers?

Also, how close is this drama bomb to reaching critical mass?

If we are going off of historical dates, it's like July 12th 1945. We got some time before the first big explosion where nobody dies except some cows. Then we have two metaphorical weeks until the next big drama bomb.

$20k coffee machines more than the hookers, coke habits unconfirmed.

The whales who've put tens of thousands in are paralysed by the sunk cost fallacy while the true believers are still refusing to accept any evidence that this won't be the greatest event in human history.

Probably 6-9 months from critical mass, there's a lot of popcorn to get through yet.

Where's that $43 million figure coming from? Granted, I've been away from the thread since last Friday so I may have missed something.

We don't have any information on how much backer money is left, however they have raised over 90 million from the kickstarter and ship jpegs.

i guess the artists could get a pass but i feel like it would be hard to brag about your star citizen portfolio as a developer :stare:

i guess you could sell it as "look, this was a mess and I helped make it not a mess by doing X, Y, Z"

"Developer" is a pretty broad term that doesn't have much meaning beyond "Works on a game in some capacity."

Star Citizen's most obvious faults are all in the game director and designer's department: Every dumbass thing like drink mixing minigames, the whole choice about maximum immersion at all times over "fun", poor balance in AC, etc.

Technical achievements have all been pretty impressive, even though some of them are of the "Well holy poo poo that was a lot of work instead of just doing X, but it's pretty impressive that you got Y to work" variety. Others like the damage modeling on ships is cool as hell.

A lifetime ban from a gaming clan (founded to play a failed non-game), based on some incident involving fishing that happened in a Korean grind-fest MMO, is way funnier if it just never gets reversed forever.
