Since we just heard it listen to the tune that plays when you fight Rando's mooks, it's good. A lot of music in this game plays at different speeds in-game though.

Just listen to this game and the joyful's music in general, it's fantastic.

But Brad did it anyway, because she was just a baby and he needed to protect her, and it's seeming to hint that he did it because of deeper emotional problems stemming from how he was raised, too. He's looking after her, because his own father didn't look after him.

That's what I got somewhat from the hallucinations of his father, at least. Unless that's another pain that he's been through -- we saw that Brad had a baby sibling, and we saw hallucinations of that cradle the baby was in, alongside the hallucination of Brad's dad, which were intense enough that Brad went right back to popping Joy to make the memories go away. Then we saw the hallucination of Brad's dad handing him a baby and telling him to take care of it.

Did that happen to Brad when he was just a kid? Was he able to take care of a baby just like that?

There's something seriously wrong with our hero.

What's most interesting to me about the opening montage of Buddy's upbringing is that Brad comes to resemble his father by accident just a little bit, and it seems to scare him. When Buddy leaves the hut and Brad goes to bring her back in, he is left guarding the door in a pill-induced stupor, just like his old man with his liquor and television. Brad stops short of being outright abusive of Buddy (I would hope :ohdear: ), but he at least got that far in becoming his father.

I finally got a chance to start up my own game of it and I'm about at the spot where the LP is right now. I'm probably going to plow through so I can experience the joy for myself before the LP covers new stuff.

Random question, but what's the music playing at the 26ish minute mark? Can't seem to find it on the OST.

I feel less like that was a stupor as it was Brad comtemplating using the drug still. Doesn't he toss them off a cliff right after and start making a mask for Buddy following that scene?

That's what stood out to me for this update. Folks apparently weren't kidding when they said the music in this game was good. I kinda love everything about this track.

Also noted was the apparently recurring feature of being able to turn off the music in an area (but why would you want to) by various means. :v:

He definitely throws the Joy away right after that, because his binge is how she gets out in the first place. In either case, when he's sitting by the door he looks a bit like his old man.

If you skip picking up any extra gear before that choice, can you go back and collect it afterwards? I know that goes against the spirit of the game, but when I'm trapped in a situation like that I kinda want to flip off fate just for the sake of being contrary.

VoD was right about what Brad has become. He's already formed yet another gang of angry, violent badasses roving the wasteland in search of blood to spill.

I don't think his followers even know it, judging by how he kept the purpose of his quest a secret from Terry. Olan and the others are just beating the poo poo out of whatever he says to.

I don't remember where, but I thought it was pretty apt in a review I read that said that Brad has motivations that are likely different from the player, and a lot of the conflict stems from that.

They got Cheeks too. Rick and Sticky are still alive as far as we know, but they're fighting for their lives.

Interesting to notice that the bloodbath in Brad's home was all Rando's men. I hadn't picked up on that. Rick and Sticky killed a lot of them, unless they just degenerated into infighting or something as soon as they caught sight of Buddy. I'm guessing that Brad had been teaching his friends some of his Armstrong Style.

Hell, maybe that's why he became a martial arts instructor in the first place -- because he wanted to teach his friends how to protect themselves from evil people. :unsmith:

He apparently doesn't think too highly of it though, given that his character class is "Nobody."
