ss2 not as good as ss1 but raw and as someone else mentioned thief in the night are very good. i'll have to give it a proper listen in my car but if this album wasn't 98% about loving bitches i'd be surprised - not a lot of thematic diversity, but it had a consistent, chill sound which i liked. maybe it would work better as background noise.

If you edited the highlights of Slime Season 1 and 2 together you would have a tight product from start to finish. As they currently stand, these tapes are way too inconsistent.

Releasing everything ever is a good way to build hype but it really hurts in the long run. If they put an ounce of curation on his work and just had one release he would have had a stellar year. But people will burn out on these releases. His highs are so high and unique so he is still one of my favourite artists currently working, but it sucks that I have to slog through cutting room floor junk to get to the good stuff. I think this is the case with a bunch of people though, and I agree it builds fatigue in folks. Especially as you say, you have to slog through dull/repetitive junk to get to what's actually good. And at least on a personal level, a lot of this stuff I'll download and just let sit around because I don't necessarily have time for Thugger random project 13 that's gonna have 2-3 songs on I actually really like. Otoh the music business is so bizarre now that it's hard to tell if it's actually a drag on his career. It sucks for the whole "place in music history" thing and message board talk, but it may actually be building buzz for him. As much as people talk bout Wayne and Gucci's giant mixtape output bringing them to the forefront, they also weren't competing with 20 other dudes doing the same thing, and 100000 people dropping stuff constantly. Their stuff got a boost because the idea of having decent content constantly coming out was new. But I'd wager that if Wayne put out the same run of mixtapes now as in his "prime", you'd see way less enthusiasm for it.
