AND MY SONG IS...
I'm glad to see some flophouse hate because another place I hang out on the internet loooves themselves some Flophouse.

I've been trying to get them on the WHM train but many of them feel like they have "too many bad movie podcasts" to listen to already :negative:

I think he puts on his radio voice, and also is normally having a beer, when he's going through WHM

You do have to love Elliot to love the flophouse, but I absolutely do so I have no problem with it. He definitely grows on you. Remember, he was the head writer for the Daily Show for many years so he has a proven track record as a funny person, but without editors he has a lower track record than on TV - maybe only 1/2 or 1/3 of his jokes are really funny, but when he's making 5+ a minute you don't really mind. More than anything else, even if he's not being actively funny he's being wonderfully quick and witty.

As I said before though, the podcast isn't really about bad films, its just about funny people hanging out and chatting. WHM is definitely the place to go for a more "movie focused" show.

I really enjoyed WHM Thinner this week, but my favourite this month was definitely the flophouse version of the Adventure Zone, which was fantastic.

I had the opposite experience personally. I thought he was great when I first started listening, and eventually he became the reason I stopped. But whatever, there are plenty of bad movie podcasts around, so there's at least one for everyone.

They already did a bad Brosnan, so I'd guess this is going to be either a Roger Moore movie or Never Say Never Again. I'd bet on any of the following:

Live and Let Die (horrible racist caricatures)
Moonraker (batshit crazy plot)
Octopussy
A View to a Kill

The Living Daylights, The World is Not Enough, Octopussy for crazy circus shenanigans, and The Man with the Golden Gun. Also Never Say Never Again.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
The F13th remake is probably like the third best one. The only that sours me on it is that it has a sort of mean-spirited tone that doesn't quite jive with the rest of the more fun aspects of the film.

The F13 remake worked for me because of how it distanced itself from the previously established Jason-As-Basically-Teleporting-Zombie-Monster thing. He felt more like a hosed-up kid who grew up by himself and made a hosed-up home in the area as much as he could.

If the F13 remake had just been the cold open camp sequence, it would've been top three on almost everyone's list. It also looks way better when compared to the Elm Street remake.

Jason X is fantastic, tho :colbert:

I'm surprised the gang picked Never Say Never Again. It's not the most obvious choice and is in fact a pretty good, if unconventional, Bond film.

Never Say Never Again is real bad dude. James Bond gripes about having to eat more antioxidants, fights stock footage of a shark, and challenges the villain to video games.

Never Say Never Again is a Bond movie that was literally solely made because one dude owned a piece of the rights to Bond and wanted to be a dick to the other people.

That's not really a good starting point, y'know?

Most Bond films have dumb poo poo in them. It's kind of what sets them apart from other action movies. Never Say Never Again is really beautifully shot and has this breezy, confident feel about it that was present in the first couple Connery movies and went missing. The villain is great and so is old man Connery. It's in the top half of all the Bond films and maybe even in the top third. I saw it for the first time less than a year ago, so this isn't nostalgia talking. Regardless, I can't wait for WHM to rip it to shreds.

Im with Stumiester. I hated Elliot from the Flophouse too, so much so that I had to stop listening for a few months when they first started. I gave it another try and came to appreciate him. There is a reason why he had his Daily Show job, dude is legit His is a good litmus test though, he can gently caress up the rhythm of the show, and will make it his business to do so, but the majority of the best bits come from him. Try the Foodfight episode or if you want a movie they liked try Journey 2 the Mysterious Island episode. Just treat Elliots mailbag songs like a into to a bad 80s sitcom, its going to happen no matter how much you mute it.

WHM are just as great and the Abraxias episode has remained like one of my top 3 podcast episodes ever, it starts slow but their Secundus bit pays off for the rest of the episode and beyond. Crack a beer with the Flophouse at your house, down a shot at the bar with WHM. Also, WHM has the most output compared to other bad movie podcasts, besides a short summer vacation they have 4+ episodes every month with the occasional Animation Specials.. If anybody is wanting more and just want some people who legitimately love some of the worst/best action movies ever made try the BMFcast (Robot Jox is their high movie water mark, and Twilight the low, to give some perspective)

To be fair, even the top third of all Bond films is still like eight/nine movies, and Bond movies cover a wide span from "really good" to "Moonraker Die Another Day".

BMFcast is a fantastic podcast. The show has a very upbeat tone, and I'd recommend it to fans of the We Love Movies variety. A few of my favorite episodes are for xXx State of the Union, Top Cop, Shakma, and Roar, but you're pretty safe with anything that looks like straight to video action or blaxploitation. They also separate the first "review" portion of the show and the second "chit chat, emails and callers" portion with an intermission, which is very appreciated.

A James Bond month would be awesome. Disappointed when I heard it was NSNA that they weren't tackling any Roger Moore shlock.

I also didn't watch NSNA until very recently and I definitely would not consider it a "bad" James Bond. It's certainly weird, but there's definitely much better material for WHM. I'm sure I'll still laugh my rear end off.

I'm hoping the next movie is Phantoms, mostly because I just watched it, but it would probably be better served for a Spooktacular.

Ninety-one? There are ninety other "Tiger Drivers"? Do any involve actual tigers, or driving?
I like how after Jaws IV and Deep Blue Sea they've landed on this rear end in a top hat shark character that now shows up whenever a shark is in a movie for five seconds. :)

Casino Royale (2006) as a WHM episode wouldn't really work, because that movie owns and everything you could make fun of in it has pretty much already been beaten to death.

Casino Royale (1967), however... :getin:
