Am I the only NC resident who doesn't give two shits about NC vinegar? I just don't like vinegar. Even pork bbq vinegar and I don't like sweet sauces either. Give me something with a bit of kick that's not too sweet and not vinegar and I'm happy. If only I could remember the name of the place we stopped at in Memphis. Anyway, you motherfuckers drummed up another 140+ posts while I was in a meeting. Anything good happen? Where are all of these new sidebar tags coming from?

The game shouldn't have the same marketing budget as a game that is about to release though, and even if/when that time comes won't need a typical marketing budget because of how much press and word of mouth it has gotten from space ship fanboys. My problem isn't that Sandi hasn't sold more games, but that she isn't qualified for the role of VP of Marketing, and only has the job because of who her husband is, and that really a game at this point in development shouldn't even need a marketing team.

On the space sim side, we've had Elite: Dangerous, which took a fascinating route to release. Instead of trying to build complex, they went with polishing a simple flight model and releasing a basic simulator. It is a good example of a well designed product, though people quickly discovered that large world sims suffer from grind/lack of depth if they're released without enough interacting systems. They've been steadily adding bits, like the faction system, but their core gameplay (the verbs of their design) have not changed. That's why it still feels like a grind despite new features being added. They have not increased the gameplay depth yet. Once they do, I'll be looking into it again. My favorite release was the AssPirates in Space spin-off, Rebel Galaxy. Though short, I finished it with the largest ship in around 10 hours, it is exactly the kind of snack-sized thing I like between big games. I'm hoping that SC, at a basic level, will be as delightful to play as Rebel Galaxy, but with the depth of a full sim like Flight Simulator so that I have something to spend my time getting to learn the nuances of a complex system.

I haven't been paying much attention to the Roberts/Smart going-ons prior to reading the past two week's worth of posts in this thread over the course of the week, but I recall ages ago refunds not being possible for original game package (ie not added on jpegs) pledges. Has this changed and there is some official channel for it, or do you just e-mail customer support and hope for the best? I suppose it would be better to put that money towards E:D/Horizons as it is a good, existing game.

After Derek confirmed to me today that Star Citizen was going to be a great success after all, I almost spent my $100 on space ships but changed my mind last minute and bought tender beef from allen brothers.
