Most popular explanation is evil publishers are paying off games sites to rubbish Star Citizen in case it makes their games look bad.

Did you know refugees are invaders in a war against Europeans? It's really a war because they want to take over the countries where their BACKWARDS WAYS are no longer practiced instead of changing things. Also, transgender people are "sexual freakshows." Being against sexism is "thought-crime." He's also mad that you can't protect free speech while banning every religion that is not Christianity.

Bounties have been known about for awhile. It's part of the Mercenary job set. (Escort or Attack missions, NPC created or PC created).

They say the market systems will account for this. The NPC insurance companies will deny claims if you end up having too many. In addition, the hull ID is flagged as stolen, so if you're giving it away to a friend, they'll be using it in the equivalent of EVE Null space. Also, LTI only applies to what the hull came with, not to the equipment or cargo. I'm sure people will abuse the heck out of it and have a good time. CIG is not too worried about this kind of friendly fraud.

If you have followed along from the beginning, their plan was to release ships on a regular basis much like car companies do. So you'd have the 300i, followed next year by the 302i, etc. Assuming they pull it off (or release the game), it'll be used as part of the inflation mitigation. Much like how new mounts were in WoW.

Of course they won't think he's endorsing his opinions, no one's saying that - but it show enormously bad judgement to validate Vox Day this way and attracts a lovely, toxic audience to Derek.

I guess this depends on your definition of wealthy. Considering 30k to be "fun money" for you to blow on a hobby is fairly wealthy in the eyes of many people. My main point is that if he really is in a position of "well I had this 30k lying around so I figured I'd spend it on X instead of Y" it's not such a big deal as some of the people on reddit who are saying "I spent 5k on a space jpg and now I'm being evicted because I can't pay rent but it is all worth it!".

This guy articulates the point well, IMO. It's not so much about the actual value, but what that sort of money means in your life.

It's definitely relative to some extent. I just don't see any evidence that this guy is actually really wealthy. If he's got 6 million bucks and wants to plow 0.5% of that into spaceparp jpegs, that's one thing. I still think he's a dipshit, but it's not huge deal to him financially. If, on the other hand, he's just a guy making 100k a year and has been plowing 10% of his gross earnings into Christ Croberts Factory of Dreams, every year for the last three years, that is a very different thing.

From what's in the article I would guess he's closer to the latter, than the former, but no way to say for sure.

Regardless of this particular shitizens finances, we all know there are backers that HAVE pledged amounts that go beyond all reason. People that have thousands in ships on credit cards, have spent college loan money, have spent significant fractions of their income, etc.

So not actually a thing you can just set on someone because they didn't do X, but rather you have to pick a specific job to randomly spam bounties on people? Not too clear how that avoids griefing or indeed why I can't just have friends cash in my bounties for no penalty. Bounty systems only really work in games with severe death penalties.

So if you blow someone up 3 or 4 times the game will refuse their LTI? That seems like a fun grief.

Also the idea that they're going to be making ships in their game part of an intentional redundancy treadmill is one of the more terrible things I've heard about their intended design and that's saying something. Sell someone a $5k ship then release something that makes it redundant. Heh. Money money money.
