We’re also going to start a major re-work of both the UI rendering and shield shader. Both of these were written very early in the project and as the design of the game has become more finalised it’s become clear they need an upgrade in order to do everything we’ll need in the final PU. For the UI we’ll be integrating it more closely into the rest of the rendering pipeline which will allow it to fit better into the scene and also be slightly cheaper to render. For the shield shader the technique will get a major visual and performance improvement which we’re excited to get started on!"

This is what optimization is. This is what innovation is. Not the bullshit buzzword that we keep hearing used in promotional PR, and fans in the community. As stated in the title, I have no actual proof, but when I look at most games for instance, like say... The Witcher 3, the game is often called by the community "incredibly well optimized". Or GTA V. And yet, what we saw at Citizencon looking freaking amazing. Here they're telling us they're going to be able to reduce the memory strain and make it even MORE visually detailed? THAT is optimization. This, I believe, is how the NVIDIA GTX 480/AMD Whatever (7990?) will be still be a reasonable assumption for the minimum requirements for the final games. If not simply changing it 2 generations to a GTX 680.

I'm sorry to name names, but to require a GTX 780 as a "recommended" graphics card for Fallout 4, is just plain insulting. Looking into the development of Star Citizen more closely, Mark Abent revealed what is on his personal machine that he uses for debugging. A GTX 780, and 3770k. Even the minimum card of a 550 Ti is also insulting, in my opinion. People should hold Bethesda to a higher standard than they currently do.

But then again, people also forget the past, as well. I'm starting to feel old. Again, I'm sorry. I just needed to get this off of my chest. All of the work that CIG does goes vastly unappreciated, even by some of the community members here. Partially because many people don't even understand it, even when it's laid out even more simplified than it actually is. (Not that I'm calling you all simple, lol) Remember how badly the Hangar Module ate RAM back in Early 2013, Mid 2014? 12 whole GB. You know what recently is an unoptimized in any sense of the word, piece of poo poo on PC? Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Multiple configurations, requiring 12 GB of RAM to even run at 30 FPS. As well as at least a 980 Ti.

I honestly am awaiting the day... I believe it's coming. I am awaiting the day, when Squadron 42 gets released, looking as amazing as it does, on hardware older than 5 years, and people wonder just how it can look that way, despite other, less graphically, and AI intensive games, "requiring" more. Fastly, we are approaching that day.

Chris Roberts is going to stir up the world again. That "How is this even possible" bewonderment that will put the PC to shine is going to be happening right in front of us. And you all, My fellow Citizens, are helping to make that a reality.

I think 3440x1440 widescreen is going to be more of a target goal too. Just like how 1440p ultrawide cropped up as 4K was almost becoming the standard. I hope this made a lot of sense, my brain did a thing there. And I'm too lazy to make it more coherent right now.

Oh I know. Yeah. So, I would consider a "Standard" when 4K monitor are at least 100-150 USD. Like I can go out and get pretty much any 1080p IPS monitor for that price. Brain working properly for this bit, at least. I bought my 4K monitor at 450 USD, and now the cheapest 4K monitor is 350. Well, good quality anyway.
