I wonder how much mileage you can really get out of the "how do we know the 94 million really all came from backers" concern. In the same vein, you could ask whether there really is 94 million at all. Easy way to increase confidence in the project and get people to buy base packages while they're seen as discounted preorders? Could make sense when they're ready to ramp up the celebrity-driven SQ42 promotion for AAA mass market (people who respond to celebrity-driven marketing). They'd get less from the people kicking in on the "help make the dream happen" angle. The amount coming in from people paying to start in better ships would be pretty much unchanged. In reality, I'm guessing they wouldn't get into that in the first place because of the potential legal trouble with that level of fraud.

I know I personally can't WAIT for a CIG to make a NASCAR game with their "awesome" physics and "great" controller implementations. I'd spend as much as $5k on race car jpegs Karl.

gently caress me! You guys I just realized something: Star Citizen would be better in every way if it were a car combat MMOFPS instead of a space combat MMOFPS. You could still have it be a scifi setting, just have it be frontier worlds like in Borderlands. Have there be giant portals between planets you could drive through and fight for control over or some poo poo. All that flight model balance and controller scheme balance bullshit goes right out the window! Jesus Christ you guys we need to get a Kickstarter up for a modern MMO version of Interstate '76 with integrated FPS. I'm not even joking I would back the poo poo out of such a game. Full loot PvP, real economy, raiding supply convoys of heavily armored 18-wheelers, motorcycle gangs you get the idea,. Pleaes goons.
