I'm guessing it's just some frightening thing Kedouin came up with when brainstorming bad endings. It seems like the inspiration for the Darkening in the remake and new canon, where you just sort of automatically lose your mind and turn violent as long as you're in the school

Not to be confused with the Dankening, where you just sorta mellow out and look for snacks

Corpse Party, bitches.
Okay! It's time to get the two worst ranked endings in the game! These will go quickly, since they're mostly combinations of scenes from the other bad endings.

Music: Main Theme 2

First, we let Ayumi die in the science lab.

Next, we accompany Yuka to the bathroom, but abandon her and let her drown.

Satoshi! Are ya all okay?

Satoshi... Where's... What happened to...your sis?
...We'll explain later. For now, we just need to find a way outta here.
Don't...don't tell me she... GODDAMMIT!
Hold on. Where's Shinozaki...?
No...way...
...
No... please... no...

I appreciate how many different variations of these conversations there are. They don't just splice together the "Yuka is dead" and "Ayumi is dead" conversations, it's an entirely new one written for them both being dead.

Anyway, the game proceeds as it did in previous bad routes. Yoshiki's route is identical to the B-1 ending, and Satoshi's is identical to the B-3 ending.

We meet up, and Naomi gets attacked by the girl in red, as she did before.

Then we fight the vengeful spirit with the only party possible. Since we have no healers, the game was polite enough to give use 2 full HP restoration items and 2 revive items. It's still not a great party composition, but the items make it manageable.

After defeating the vengeful spirit, we escape.

Yuka appears, but the scene is the same as the version from ending B-3, but with none of Ayumi's dialog.

And we escape.

Music: None

Background Sound: Rain

However... we all lost someone irreplaceable. The child-like, spoiled Yuka... has passed away... And so had the ghost story loving Shinozaki... Why did it have to come to this...? Everyone was thinking the same thing... Yet dared not speak...

To think, she had only come to deliver an umbrella... She was only thinking of me... Although she was spoiled and sometimes bratty... her heart was in the right place... Yuka is...dead... She's really...dead... My mind raced furiously... It was in total chaos, yet...those words were clear... And the tears flowed down my face without end...

Background Sound: None

Music: The End

And the credits roll.

Music: None

Background Sound: Rain

Yuka... Yuka stopped by to drop off an umbrella, then went over to a friend's house to spend the night...

"Oh? That girl.. the least she could do is give her dear old mother a call! Jeez... We'll have to ground her when she gets home, won't we, Dad?"
"...Hm? Oh, oh yeah. But I'm sure she's fine."
"That's not the point! Kids can't just do whatever they want while their parents are having a heart attack!"

...

I went up to my room and plopped down on my bed. I stared at the ceiling. Wondering what the hell I was gonna do. I could faintly hear a voice calling out for me...

The hell?

Isn't that...?

Background Sound: None

Music: Eeriness

He seemed strange... His eyes looked up at me...but they were pitch black and vacant. He was grinning widely, showing off all of his teeth in a strange, unnatural manner... Saliva was unseemly dripping out of the corner of his mouth... And he was waving...with all his might.

Satoshi! Satooooshiii!! Get your rear end out here! NOW!
What the hell are you doing?!

I was still in my school uniform, so I had no issues running straight outside.

You...you son of a bitch! If you were dead! Shinozaki would... She'd still be...!

Music: Crisis

Something gleamed in Yoshiki's hands... He came at me with it...

Music: None

Background Sound: Rain

Yoshiki stopped mid-rush and dropped what he was holding... A knife fell to the ground with an audible "thud."

You! If only you... Uuuwaaagh!
Yoshiki, are you drunk?
That knife... That knife was meant for me...
You selfish rear end in a top hat! You told Shinozaki you were gonna keep living, right?! You coward!
drat straight I'm a coward! I'll never forgive myself! When she needed me, I ran like a pussy!
And what will that solve!? Do you think your death will bring her back to life?! Do you!? Do you think Shinozaki will be happy to see you dead!?
Uuuugh... Shinozaki! Shinozakiiii!

This bit where Yoshiki comes at Satoshi with a knife is present in the PC version of Blood Covered, as wrong end 7 of chapter 5. In the PSP version, getting caught by the anatomical model is an instant game over, but in the PC version, you can continue playing. This is the ending you get if Ayumi dies. In both versions, it doesn't matter if you dodge left or dodge right, because Yoshiki drops the knife before he reaches Satoshi anyway.

And now, let's move right on into Ending D-2, the last ending!

Background Sound: None

Music: Main Theme 2

First, we let Yoshiki die to the anatomical model.

Then we accompany Yuka to the bathroom, but leave her to drown.

That's right! You screamed! If you didn't scream, none of this would have happened!
...
It was you! It's all your fault!
...I'm... I'm sorry...
...Naomi. I should be the one to apologize... I'm on edge right now. I didn't mean it.
...No, I am partially to blame. I'm sorry, Satoshi.
I'm so sorry... I... I made you leave...your precious sister...*sob*
Naomi...
I'm the one to blame. It's not your fault, Naomi. I should have done something...
You can't blame yourself. It changes nothing.
The best thing to do is to keep living and to survive no matter what. For Yuka's sake.

This choice has no impact on anything, I just wanted to show the "make Satoshi act like an rear end in a top hat" option.

After this, Ayumi's route remains exactly the same as it was in the B-2 route, and Satoshi's stays the same as it was in the B-3 route.

For the final boss, our party has to be Satoshi, Naomi and Ayumi. Since we have a healer, it's not a bad group.

Once again, we do the escape sequence and this scene from ending B-3 plays out again.

And we arrive home.

Music: The End

However... we all lost someone irreplaceable. The child-like, spoiled Yuka... has passed away... And so had the carefree, class-skipping Yoshiki... Why did it have to come to this...? Everyone was thinking the same thing... Yet dared not speak...

To think, she had only come to deliver an umbrella... She was only thinking of me... Although she was spoiled and sometimes bratty... her heart was in the right place... The one who had always been tough on him, Shinozaki, cried bitterly. However, her tears would never reach Yoshiki... My tears and Shinozaki's tears streamed down our faces without end...

Music: Sadness

And for the last time, we see the credits.

Or so I'd say, but her appearance was haggard. She looked like she ran a marathon and her eyes were bloodshot red.

Wh...what's wrong?!
Mochida... are you sad...?

Background Sound: None

Music: Eeriness

She wasn't acting normal. Her eyes were opened as wide as they could go... and she stared at me...unblinking... She was trembling, but even that was off. It was like she was possessed. And for some reason, she was cradling a thick, heavy black book in her arms...

Mochida...how do you think it feels when you kill someone?
What?!
Do you think it's wrong to kill someone, no matter what the reason?

Music: None

Oooh? Interesting... How about this, then? Do you think it's wrong to revive someone?
Revive!?

Music: Terror

That's right! With black magic! Look, we can use this book!!
Are you high!? Once a person is dead, that's it! They can never live again!
You're wrong! Black magic laughs in the face of death. There's been reports throughout history of people being revived. It's real!
You really intend to do this?!
Anything is better than doing nothing! Are you saying you're fine with our friends being dead?! Are you saying you're happy that Yuka and Kishinuma died?! NEVER! I will never give up! I won't let them die!

So maybe I can't bring myself to accept Yuka's death... Yes, wouldn't it be better if she never died...?

I felt like I was considering something unforgivable...

Music: None

And there's the last ending. Ayumi using a magic tome to attempt to revive the dead does not occur in any ending of Blood Covered.

Before we close this out, there are a couple of brief scenes I want to show that didn't fit into any other update. First, what happens if you say "no" when Ayumi asks Yoshiki if he'll come back with her to save the others.

Background Sound: Rain

Shinozaki, I'm sorry, I just can't. I won't go back!
Why...
Why are you always like this!? I am sick of your crap!
Oh!? You're sick of MY crap!? What 'bout ya!? Only reason why ya wanna go back is to save Satoshi!
...!
You're always like that! All ya ever think 'bout is him! Ya...ya totally ignore how I feel!

But the only thing spewin' out of your mouth is, "Mochida this, Mochida that"...
The truth is... I... I... really...
...STOP IT!
Just stop! You're...you're the worst!
...I'll have you know, Mochida isn't the only one I'm worried about.

I want to do all sorts of fun things like that in the future.
I...I don't want to lose that. That's why we have to go!

...Are you sure?...
Yes, I'm sure! PLEASE!
...Understood...

...I'm scared, too.

Ayumi and the girl in red disappear, and we're put into control of Yoshiki. We make to exit the classroom.

Yoshiki turns around and hads back to the edge of the pit.

I can't let Shinozaki out-man me!
...Understood...

And Yoshiki returns to the school as well.

Background Sound: None

Music: Main Theme 3

...Yeah. I'd be worried sick leavin' ya alone, ya know?
Thank you! ...To be honest, I felt completely helpless...

This whole scene has no impact on anything, it's just an alternate thing that can happen.

Music: None

Next, what happens if we screw up in the incinerator. There are a lot of wrong choices, but they all have the same result.

Music: Crisis

Whaa!?
Kyaaaah!

Yoshiki and Ayumi start to run.

AYUMI!!

Yoshiki takes a step back.

Music: None

S...poo poo. I think...I'm gonna die too.
...Sorry, Satoshi.
Ayumi...
Wait for me... I swear, we'll always be together. Please, God...let us be together.

Music: The End

The party has been annihilated.

GAME OVER

This is more like the sort of bad endings found in the rest of the series: a glorified game over. It's just a brief scene and then it boots you back to the title screen to load your last save.

Music: None

Next, what happens if you're too slow to escape. The last chime rings and the lights go out, and a few moments later...

Sudden pain seizes the group. It starts from their stomachs and grabs hold of their entire body... Suddenly, heat, like nothing they have ever felt, spreads out from their necks.

*thud*

...Nothing was felt after that.

Thankfully, it is possible to save after the final boss, so failing the escape doesn't mean fighting her again.

Music: Main Theme

This isn't terribly interesting, but for curiosity's sake, we turn around during this sequence.

And all of their bodies vanished!

And lastly...

Originally, I was planning to put together a whole update summarizing the entirety of the original PC98 version of the game. But it crashes consistently very shortly after the two parties split on my machine, and I couldn't manage to get more than a few shots.

It's the same exact game, but with different graphics and some different sound effects (since the RPG Maker XP version we played uses RPG Maker's included SFX in a few places)

The interface is different as well, of course. I presume this is the default UI for the PC98 version of RPG Maker.

Humorously, the PC98 version of the game starts you with 1000G for some reason. I assume that's some default value they never bothered to change.

Alas, upon entering the room down the hall from the piss bucket (which is required to complete the game), it crashes 100% of the time on my computer. These shots at least give a feel for the different graphical style and interface. The BGM is all the same, as is the story and sequence of events. It even ends with a boss battle against the girl in red.

Music: The End

And thus, Corpse Party -Rebuilt- comes to a close. Ultimately, Corpse-Party and Corpse Party -Rebuilt- are very different from the remake and its sequels, yet similar as well. I personally prefer Blood Covered, but this game has a lot of its own merits, and is superior in quite a few ways. The plot is a lot simpler, which prevents it from getting super goofy and dumb, but I kind of enjoy how goofy and dumb the current canon is, in all honesty.

Speaking of the PSP game and its sequels, Corpse Party's "Heavenly Host Saga" has recently come to a close with the release of Blood Drive on the PS Vita, and the curse of my bloodline means I have to LP it...

We don't need to have that dialogue because it's obvious, trivial, and has already been had a thousand times.
Fantastic LP- I'm looking forward to the next- after I read through your two previous ones!

Dollars to donuts this is calling a file (either an image in the room or a soundfile) with region-specific characters in the name.

I'd always wanted to see what the original Corpse Party was like, thanks for showing it off! I am probably more excited for the Blood Drive LP than is really warranted but for some reason I find this stupid series kind of captivating and I gotta know how it all ends and I don't have a Vita of my own. Then, after that I'll finally allow myself to sink my teeth into Corpse Party 2.

If you haven't read the PSP version of Corpse Party, then do that first because Book of Shadows is a sequel to it and it's very different from this game.

If you have, and you plan to play Blood Drive or read the Blood Drive LP, at the very least read the last chapter of the Book of Shadows LP. The full list of canon chapters is 3, 4, 7, 8, but only the last one really matters for Blood Drive.

Great LP, but just once I'd like to see Japanese school anything without an incest subplot. drat though, I wonder if anyone's made a VN or dating-sim or whatever of this series, because there's love triangles like daytime soap-operas.

I just finished reading the LP of the PSP version and I have to say I prefer this game's story over the PSP's. Too many characters whose only role is to die, and a lot of really uncomfortable scenes between characters for no reason what so ever.

Plus whatever happened to the dude who was taking pictures of the corpses in that game? He just freaks out when he finds out his sister is dead, drops his phone and is never heard from again.

It wasn't his sister, it was his crush, and vice versa. also he went mad mentally jerking off to her splattered corpse, which is pretty freak-out worthy <spoiler for the PSP games.

He commits suicide by jumping out a window. I didn't do a good job of representing that for people who weren't clicking tindeck links (which features the sound of breaking glass and a thud)
