I think their ferocious posturing might be a form of "honest signal" i.e. Behaviors that signal to other animals that they aren't worth the effort of chasing down. Like deer stotting etc. or maybe it's like the ferret war dance, since they're sorta related (as a species).

More pics! Feat. me not looking like a neckbeard goonlord. How it looks with the hood down.   Hood up. This is how it looks like 'normally' I think. Pretty warm, actually, warmer than a knit hat.
