The ship you are in disappears and you end up on the platform without a ship. In reality: You crash / clip through the floor / die and respawn in a contorted position / the server crashes.

Once that pilot leaves the seat, the ship is no longer owned or locked. So if you sat in the ship and AFK'd, you'd be in the ship. The original pilot could just take someone else's ship or spawn a new one. As far as the server is confirmed, the original ship is 'yours' until you disconnect or more likely, crash.

It's ctrl + f to leave your seat, pistol is 1, rifle is 2 or something but doesn't work at the main place. You can go to the security zone, grab a rifle and go back but anyone sitting in a seat seems to be immune to gunfire. Played for a while didn't crash once, but still very buggy. Bugs experienced, parked my mustang above a constellation, clipped into the constellation trying to EVA in from the top, thought that's great I'm inside, I can maybe shoot someone. Got flung thousands of km away for no reason, in the middle of weapons floating in space and two deformed guys with no space helmets on. Flew to the security place with my lovely mustang, grabbed a gun some guy shot my ship, grabbed a worse aurora to fly back to main place. Boarded a guys cutlass after it spawned, went in the turret, waited for 5 minutes while his mate tried to work out why he couldn't get into the turret, pilot took off to a comm tower mission thing, came out of the turret tried to head shot his mate but he was sitting in a crappy chair and it didn't hurt him. Pilot was fighting someone, opened back door and fell out, flew to the comm station entrance but didn't do the mission. Two guys in the cutlass came close to the entrance and parked but before they got out to do the mission (and maybe get shot by some dick with a rifle), some dick came along and blew them up and buggered off. Flew out but suddenly found I had no space helmet and no suit jets so couldn't do anything. Lot of similar stuff, someone respawns a ship you've stolen and your stuck in space, people killing each other and being arseholes all over the place, no wonder Citizens upset. Also this has happened to me a couple of times, if it says instances full or whatever, just escape back to the main menu and wait. I've loaded in a couple of times not doing anything but that, it seems to add you to a queue or something but not tell you, I just alt tab away for a while.
