I wish I could have voted in this election. About 2 years ago I had decided to get more involved in politics and was looking forward to voting on different issue. Come to find out I am in a zone that is not technically in any city and therefore I don't have the requirements to vote. Anyone else in that situation? I'm just outside the houston city limits so I can't vote in houston election, but I'm also too far from the city my home address is attached to to be able to vote there.

You can fill out the online voter registration application and mail it to your county's voter registrar, then check on this same page in a couple of weeks to make sure that you are registered.

A little late, but I hate Torchy's because I can't loving afford it. The Tuk-tuk (thai taco, it's good) is $5.95. For one taco. How the gently caress do people spend so much money on food?

Their tacos are pretty sizable. I find one quite filling, whereas in a lot of other places I have to get two, or sometimes three.

There's a reason Bun B is the city's cultural ambassador and Willie D has a gimmick advice column in the Press.

I wondered if there'll be a push to have his column dropped for the HERO remarks.

Also today was filing day and TONS of people drew challengers. Notably, the President of the He-Man Muslim Haters Club Molly White will draw a former rep for her challenger in HD 55.

I dunno this lady but she tweeted out all the matchups.

Is this going to be turned into a highly symbolic Respectable Republican versus Tea Party Darling contest?

Yeah, one taco is exactly the sort of portion size I should be eating now that I'm old and decrepit. (Also, 5.95 is very on the high end for my location, although I will admit that if we carried a Thai taco I'd probably get it somewhat often anyway.)

Looks like both my local house districts are just facing primary challengers. Shame I can't mount even a token opposition campaign since I'm on the state payroll :/

Not that weird. Chris Bell hates Turner.

Remember in 2003 when Tom Delay was trying to push through mid decade redistricting and the Texas Dems went to Oklahoma to prevent a quorum so Delay couldn't go forward with his plan? Well, Turner was the one who came back from Oklahoma to break the deadlock and in exchange he was given the chairmanship of the appropriations committee.

Chris Bell was in Congress at the time and lost his seat when redistricting went through. Since then Bell has lost like infinity races and hates the poo poo out of Sylvester Turner.

That is why Chris Bell endorsed Bill King, notorious out of touch shithead.

In other news, former Harris County Sheriff and Mayoral Candidate Adrian Garcia is taking on Congressman Gene Green in a primary. Lets see what Annise Parker has to say about that:

I mean, someone was gonna be the guy to go back, unless Chris Bell thinks that they should be in Ardmore to this day. Did Turner sneak out of town or something, how divided were the D's on continuing the quorum break?

Anyways that's petty as gently caress.

Well, technically it was Whitmire who broke the deadlock because it was preventing a Seante quorum, but Turner brokered the deal. But yeah, it's petty as gently caress.

Bill King would have set this city back 20 years on transit and urban development issues just like Bob Lanier.

That reminds me - is overwhelming twee a thing in other Texas cities as well? I went by A-town gifts (a local art market) looking for secret santa things and was just blown away by the absolutely ridiculous amount of twee bullshit on display at a display of pictures of Austin on coasters and cutting boards. Every new mural seems to be angling to become the next "You're my butter half" or "i love you so much"

Can someone explain this historical racing controversy to me? I understand the legislatures point of view on it; claiming the Racing Commission overstepped it's authority which was also the ruling by a District Court. I don't understand why the horse people are so adamant about wanting it or why the Commission has decided this is the hill they are going to die on. I also don't understand the whole argument about how repealing something that wasn't legal for decades is going to destroy racing in Texas. The whole idea of historical racing seems like bullshit to me. Where's the fun in loosing your drat money on a computer generated race? It's almost like betting on that arcade race you find on the midway at the State Fair.
