I hadn't listened to Wrekmeister Harmonies only because I don't like the silly name. A friend even contributed to the most recent record but I was still too skeptical to waste my precious time. Glad I got over that.

Brant Bjork and his band rule. That was some really good stuff. The chillest grooviest heaviest. Hard to top that. I left before COC finished.

Yeah, Brant's band is cooking right now. Dinsmore and Dupree are a great fit, and the new guy on drums is really good. They did a sick jam with "Too Many Chiefs..." when I saw them in Vancouver.

I hadn't planned on listening until this post and now I'm glad I have. Got to be a better way to reference Bela Tarr for your band's name.

Thanks for the recommendations on the earbuds everyone! One more kinda weird question: is there a picture of Dixie when he had dreads? I couldn't find one.

Kind (the Elder/Rozamov/Black Pyramid/Roadsaw stoner supergroup thing) has released their first album today. A little more on the hard rock side than metal, but some folks here might be into it. https://ripplemusic.bandcamp.com/album/rocket-science

Here's a code I don't need for Serial Hawk's newest album. It doesn't say where to plug it in, but I assume it works at https://serialhawk.bandcamp.com/yum. edit: all gone! Please post if you take it so I can edit it out so others won't try it, thanks. Detective Thompson fucked around with this message at 08:40 on Dec 13, 2015 |

In some truly news it turns out that Crowbar and High on Fire both put on loving awesome shows. Also thanks to the people who recommended ER20 earplugs a while back. Those fuckers really work.

Windhand's facebook account being hacked is incredibly distressing to me. My facebook feed is supposed to be sacrosanct, for pictures of my local sports mascots antics, bands doing bong rips, and poorly spelled racist rants from my relatives. Some of the comments are funny as hell though.

Baroness have been one of my favorites since I saw them open up for Mastodon in like...2009/2010? This poo poo is awesome and I'm sad that its not a huge double like Yellow/Green. They need a new drum beat though. Fauxshiz fucked around with this message at 07:38 on Dec 19, 2015 |

Purple is solid but still doesn't compare to the first two albums and EPs. --- My band has a new (unmastered) single out. We wrote enough material for two albums so we're already putting the sophomore record out on New Year's Eve. This is the least doomy song on the album but it's the single because it's the only one less than 9 minutes long. It's about a Satanic nun porno. I'm on bass and harsh vox. http://fleshofthestars.bandcamp.com/track/eternal-casket

Yeah I was hoping Purple would take AOTY, but it doesn't really reach all the way. It's def in my top 5-10 whatever but there were a ton of good releases this year. Here's my top picks for 2015: Elder - Lore Royal Thunder - Crooked Doors High on Fire - Luminiferous Khemmis - Absolution If I had to pick one, probably Luminiferous. It's hard though, they all stand out in different ways. For 2016 I'm super excited for new albums from Anciients and Beastwars! still listening to their last records even though there's tons of new stuff coming out. Anything else coming out in 2016?

Nice, I'll keep my eye out! I saw Monolord opening for High on Fire recently, probably the heaviest show of the year. Monolord are very good live. And yeah, Ancient of days is a great record. I'll try to catch Spelljammer soon, they're playing here in January together with Tombstones (https://tombstonesoslo.bandcamp.com/) who, in case you missed it, recently released an album which should be right up your alley!
