Technically, if you're on Social Security Disability Insurance, you're probably not working at all. The way you get on SSDI is that you have a disability that prevents you from being employed in any position and you've been unemployed for at least a year. And any means anything, so if you're a paraplegic but you've worked in the past in a non-labor position or a desk job, then you're likely not going to be eligible for Disability because the jobs you're qualified for don't need a lot of movement. It's possible to work once you've on SSDI, but if you make more than $1090/month (which is just under minimum wage at full-time), they end your benefits since you're obviously capable of working a full-time job or supporting yourself. It's a safety net, but, also like a net, it's kind of a trap if you get caught in it.
