They announced it a while back - first hit on Google out of many, emphasis mine:quote:T-Mobile recently updated its disclosures about when customers on unlimited plans might see slower speeds. So because of that three months of unlimited data thing my nephew (I pay for his line) has managed to use >36GB of data in less than 2 weeks. Without tethering. I'm honestly loving impressed. He doesn't even have any apps installed. God knows what he's doing. He says "Youtube". I don't know how many loving hours of 1080p Youtube that would be.

I know this gets asked 24/7 but I want to switch from Verizon to Tmobile. As I gather it is: A) Upgrade my Verizon phone to whatever iPhone 6 Giant. B) Cancel it, Pay ETF, get receipt. C) Go to T-Mobile and buy a cheap phone, or bring a lovely phone to trade in. D) Put sim in my better phone. E) Sent them receipt of my ETF fee. F) Get gift card later. Am I missing something somewhere?

Navigate to http://ma.t-mobile.com on your phone and you can see how much hotspot limit you have left. If you have Binge On turned on then video streaming from supported services won't count as hotspot data.

I bought a Nexus 6 last week that was on special on Amazon. It's having trouble updating the 5.1.1 patch. I'm new to Nexus phones, I thought it was supposed to have the latest and greatest in Marshmallow. Does anyone have a link to a decent guide so that I can fix my update error and/or update to Marshmallow? I've googled a bit and this seems to be a T-Mo problem?code:

Well this is incredibly disappointing. T-Mobile announced last month that their coverage in Northern Michgian was greatly expanded. At my in-laws home it said that we have "4G LTE Good Signal" I'd say that for the last 45 minute of our drive to the Petosky area we did not connect to the T-Mobile network at all. And we are forced to roam on AT&T when the coverage map says we have good signal. Blah... Customer Service gave me and my wife 150MB of free roaming data to make up for it. We were planning on switching her parents over to T-Mobile now that they added service to the area, but it appears that there actually is no service here.

Ah, and if I understand correctly for a newer phone like the 5x, it can use them, if google gets their OS in order. edit: Oh wow, so I switched to T-Mobile because it was the cheapest. Looks like Project Fi might be cheaper, and since I'm prepaid I can just switch whenever, right?! Unlimited data is cool I guess but it looks like I've never breached even 2GBs in a month, and all three times I ever breached even 1 GB, was because I was downloading podcasts when I had wifi turned off. Does the Usage section of the T-Mobile account website show ALL data usage, or only data that isn't covered by whatever free streaming perks are included in the package? I recently migrated to Fi to try and lower my bill after several months of 5-6GB of data usage per month on a T-Mo Unlimited plan. I selected Fi's 6GB plan thinking I'd end up using most of it, but after two weeks I've only consumed approximately 230MB of data. Granted I've cut out streaming music when I'm on the road as I get used to Fi's billing, but is it really possible to use 2.5GB of data by streaming music? I only stream off WiFi when I'm driving, which is about a half hour per week. The only explanation I can think of is that T-Mobile's Usage page disingenuously shows ALL of your data including data that wouldn't get billed because of their free music streaming.

Having checked My T-Mobile vs my phone's reporting of data usage, it definitely does not report all your data. My T-Mobile is showing 1.5 gigs this past month whereas my phone is showing about 4, and Google Play music makes up most of that difference (though not all of it. I'm not sure what else I'm being given for "free", though I am not complaining.) Fi will refund you for your unused data though, yeah? Well T-Mobile you've finally done it. My area is no longer a black hole of some LTE, then EDGE then nothing. Band 12 arrived and it is glorious ... which means boodbye AT&T. Called AT&T last night to make sure porting out my grandparents numbers to tracfone was good to go, they at some point put me on a two year contract on one line for a device I bought second hand and brought to their network. I am really really looking forward to a carrier that wants to do things differently. Oh and not having to worry about caps .. that too.

Does Band 12 work on MetroPCS? Like, if you have a phone that'd get it on T-Mobile, it's all the same? Gonna be needing my own mobile plan soon (and not my parents') and T-Mobile, on its own, is too expensive for me unless it's on the nerd plan which apparently I can't get. Google Fi seemed like an attractive option... but then I realized that I use Music Freedom, like, constantly. Google Fi would cost me a fortune, with how often I use Pandora (all the time). Also, I've read that just calling and asking to be switched does sometimes work. Also read you can activate a new SIM with a new number, then port your old number in to replace it.

I cancelled my T-Mobile account about 2 weeks ago. I had a device through Jump! On Demand, and I want to pay it off (the remainder of the lease and the purchase option) so that they will unlock it for me. I'm tired of waiting for my final bill to arrive - can I call them and pay the bill of that way so I can submit an unlock request?

Binge on is short for : "we've forcefully lowered quality on everything you do, enjoy!". It's not an actual benefit to you at any time unlimited or otherwise, so it is beneficial to turn it off. Phones and devices can already choose their quality without Tmobile making the choice for you under the false pretense of "more data!". It does bring in a ton of politics and weird media coverage for tmo and a direct benefit to them - none of which is being passed on to you. Think of this like the flip side of how a data cap works: instead of harassing all the heavy users (top 5%) via overages, they're basically defaulting everyone to be the lightest users (lowest 5%) and letting you choose to opt out at will.
