To be honest, EVE's Planetary Interaction might as well be gardening for all the kind of futzing it requires (and it even lets you produce plankton, bacteria, and other forms of biomass). Also, since one of the higher-tier products is life stock, there has to be some kind of hay being farmed along the way, right? :D

For Star Citizen they got a video of Chris in his mocap romper diaper, saying how busy he was doing mocap stuff to appear.

The predominant belief among the community is that the game will be too complicated for bots and that CIG will sell credits and mitigate the demand, thus hurting the supply and demand. In reality CIG has absolutely no MMO experience and if there is any evidence they're examining how it will impact the economy their "open development" hasn't shown it.

I would expect that, at the very least, the backers are screwed.

How advanced are farming bots these days? I've been out of the MMO game for a long time.

Is it plausible that a modern bot could competently complete a mission loop (get in ship, fly to destination, do mission, fly back, dock ship) in SC? Does Elite Dangerous have bots running around? That would probably be the best point of comparison.

I feel the same way about the company bearing the same name.

World of Tanks developer Wargaming has been going to great lengths to not nerf tanks they have sold for real money. This is because in the EU, lowering the value of a digital good sold is legally actionable.

Think about what that means for "everything is subject to change" Star Citizen ships. Like the Constellation Phoenix that was sold as having a more powerful power plant, now it has a tiny extra power plant instead. That's legally actionable.

But obviously the jurisdiction in such cases would fall to Space Court.

They don't have to be able to fly missions, there will be in game markets and commodity trading, and gardening, and prostitution, and slave trading, and space porn that wouldn't require flying missions to complete. Any sort of a marketplace for example, can be botted quite easily. See Virtually any MMOs auction house.

The literal only reason I will play Squadron 42 is to:
1. Blast smilin' sandi with laser gun
2. Fly spaceship into smilin' sandi standing on hangar dock
3. Bump smilin' sandi off the hangar dock with spaceship like an earth-mover pushin' a spaceship. WC style.
4. Fly spaceship with smilin' sandi co-pilot into an asteroid, ejecting just before impact, eva'ing to her ragdoll corpse, and blasting it with laser gun
5. Run into low-cover fps zone with smilin' sandi AI in tow, then duck and roll and watch her get blasted with laser guns, and also shoot her with my laser gun
6. Jump-drive spaceship into the sun, ejecting last-minute and watching smilin' sandi plummet into the hot-plasma fusion core of a red giant

The possibilities are literally endless. Like dreams. Like Fart Shitizen.

I guess the clown who even started a poll about "monetization" has no clue what it means or entails. Considering the fact that they've been monetizing the project since day one and have NO choice but to continue to do so until they collapse (as they inevitably will). Not sure how they expect them to keep raising $3m per month to fund four studios and over 280 people.

TBF, she's so bland and generic looking, you could miss her in a group, even if she had a giant neon lit sign saying "Sandi Gardener, Acting Prodigy" floating above her head. She doesn't even have and interesting voice, she's just monotone and flat, and clearly very untrained. I guess if a non nepotism role comes up one day requiring the dullest, most generic "actor" in Hollywood, she'd probably make it to the shortlist, then get overlooked for no other reason than the casting director thought they had been passed a blank sheet of paper by mistake.

That's my rant about Sandi, and it's founded because I have legit talented friends who had to break into roles by doing hard work, not by marrying some despo-fatso-burnout with a borderline superpower that strips idiots of their money and leaves them feeling better off for it.

I would expect that, at the very least, the backers are screwed.

Either the economy will be massively locked down (i.e. you buy and sell everything from NPCs, there's virtually zero trading between players), or it will be a complete and total shitshow. CIG has guaranteed it with their ridiculous theories on what's appropriate for time vs. dollar in an MMO. You'd have successful Chinese businessmen quitting their jobs to go farm UEC because they can make more money doing it.

And locking things down that heavily becomes extremely problematic when you're supposed to be able to do things like steal cargo and weapons from peoples ships, so there are massive gameplay implications as well. All of which should have been thought of by Crobbits and his crack development team, but Crobbits:

1. Doesn't know poo poo about how video games work anymore, due to spending the last 15 years being a successful Hollywood bigshot.
2. Never knew poo poo about MMOs to begin with.
3. Doesn't really give a crap anyway, and will just say whatever he thinks sounds good to get more and more funding.

Either the backers get screwed or SC is the grindiest shitfest ever conceived. There's literally no other possible scenario.
