Amusingly, this was Glenn Beck's schtick for a while; talk about the pending collapse of the American economy (mainly due to misuderstanding the difference between running a country and a checking account), and then advertising gold in various different forms; from the thinly plated treasury proofs right through to tiny amounts of bullion. At least two of the advertisers were later found to have been ripping people off because watching Glenn Beck means you also know nothing about precious metal spot pricing. There's a huge number of semi-legitimate scams running at any particular kind in the US because there is little to no consumer protection of the kind found in Europe.
