Fun stuff. Still totally possible. Less than $2000 to spy on LCD monitors near you.

At the training institute I work at, some instructors and staff (all old men) still use flip phones or 2008 vintage touchscreen phones. They're just very stubborn and don't get what all the hubbub is about smartphones, and may not even care about using a cell phone for anything except making calls and maaaaybe short texts. So in TYOOL 2016, you will continue to see people in their 60s, 70s, and onward loving around with technology from a decade ago. The best thing I heard today was the CEO of the company I work for, who's 68 at the moment, outright saying "I don't wanna learn nuthin" when someone offered to teach him how to use LinkedIn instead of just controlling his account for him. That sums up pretty well what the problem is.

I legitimately own a flip phone. It has a camera that takes loving awful photos and a high pitched "chhhhhk" sound effect that no, you can't mute. It can't get most smilies, but thankfully most photos formats aren't yet beyond its pitiful reach. I text with that Abc# format poo poo all the time. Upside is that it's unbelievably hardy. I've dropped this thing from heights that would destroy any smartphone's screen and it still works fine. Downside is that its a constant reminder of my crippling poverty.

A few years back my bosses wanted a Composite Output cable for one of our aging Sony Z7P video cameras. For some reason we had a project that required recording to CF card, HDMiniDV AND output to a webstream through the composite out to a composite capture card on a laptop rigged to a phones mobile data connection. Fot the time it was a massive feat. But holy crap that Composite out cable was one of those 'looks like USB but isnt' deals. No camera stores had them. I had a rough idea of where our cables were but we had just moved the company to a new building. I ended up spending all day on the phone trying to find any camera shop within overnight express shipping range for one. Finally, Sony Australia spares had one, only one. It was somewhere in their labyrinth of a central warehouse. To this day that stock boy who spent countless hours finding it physically has my adoration. It was a $10 cable and they went to all ends to find it for us and get it before overnight express closed. Used it once, then lost it! gently caress!
