No, I meant: recently a label rereleased 3 older grimes albums, but grimes posted some stuff urging fans not to purchase them because that label has mistreated her and, in this instance, wouldn't even be seeing any money from this rerelease.

Now that it's out, I'm happy to say "Quiet Americans" is kind of an aberration. The album is Shearwater's best since Rook, IMO. Particularly fond of "A Long Time Away" and "Filaments."

it's still amazing to me how The Love Within manages to take a bunch of really solid component parts and then ruin it with a boring rhythm section and the single worst synth lead I have ever heard in a pop song

Bloc Party is one of those weird cases where their debut album was perfect and then nothing they've done has come close to being as good. And it's sad because I want to like new Bloc Party music, but every time I hear some, I already kind of know it's not going to do much for me and then it proves me right.

The same goes for Franz Ferdinand.

the second and third Franz Ferdinand albums were secretly pretty good though! not as good as their first obviously, but serviceable. the fourth album was pretty disappointing but had a couple decent tracks. and FFS was great

whereas every Bloc Party album since their first was straight trash I never want to listen to again

(We Are Scientists also had this problem though they had a few good singles on their later albums and their live set is at least 70% first album and the good songs off their later ones)

There is a poo poo ton of overlap in those fanbases. Modest Mouse are indie that emo kids loved and Brand New became the inverse of that with the Devil and God.

I thought Brand New started aping Modest Mouse pretty hard when they put out Daisy, but I never thought they'd tour together.

I wish they were coming to New Orleans or Baton Rouge instead of Shreveport. That's a really weird choice.

I saw Brand New in 2007 at the House of Blues here with Thrice and mewithoutyou and didn't think they were that great. I mean I've been listening to them since like 2002 and I was really excited for that show, but from what I remember, there wasn't much variety to their setlist. It was just slow depressing song after slow depressing song after slow depressing song. And I think Brand New does depressing songs well, but that's not all they've ever done. Too many of those in a row made me pretty uninterested.

They played here last year at a sports arena (which seemed like a really odd choice for them) and the tickets were like $50, so I wasn't interested enough in them at that point to pay that price to see them again.

I'm consistently surprised with how big and how much brand new shows are considering their infrequency of releases and the quality. They're not..bad albums by any means, not just once every 4 years $50 stadium ticket good.

i kinda couldn't stand this band and hated all of the singles but i like a lot of songs on this album? which is really confusing. polymorphing and moth to the flame are both loving good becuase they have some actual warmth to them, while the rest of the album is that same mediocre coldly-produced indie pop that makes me dislike bands like phantogram

I saw them at a festival by accident in 2014 (with Modest Mouse, no less) and they had quite a varied setlist, and were way higher energy than I expected. Pretty even split from every album except Your Favorite Weapon, which was fine by me.

The most surprising thing was all the underage kids who knew every word to the Deja Entendu songs. I loved that album when I was 16 but I did not expect it to have staying power.
