I guess this lot of children will all have stuff out there and maybe not be so embarrassed about it as adults as the pre-internet generation were. I think it is going to be fascinating to watch. I see. So what you're saying is that we need to launch a 'Where are they now?' investigation for all those kids who ended up AMV.

I swapped to vaping just because I was a pack a day smoker and it's nice being able to breath again. I'm pretty sure the poo poo blowing up is either cheap lithium battery poo poo, or people with mods running too high watts on too low of an Ohm coil and pushing amps higher than their battery is rated for. Still makes me paranoid though.

Carbon dioxide posted:More watts mean more nicotine? Somehow I don't think it works that way. Were you talking about what I said specifically? People like to run really high watts for the simple sake of blowing huge clouds. Apparently they even have competitions or something. But higher watts does vape more juice faster, so hell if I know. I'm actually starting to get tired of mine after 3 months, without any craving to go back to cigarettes so I'm happy.

The Venn diagram of people who are using e-cigs to stop smoking and people who overclocked their e-cig doesn't have much overlap.

So it says the vape explosions happen because the battery overheats. My understanding is this is a huge design flaw not on the company that makes the batteries, but on the company that makes the mechanical battery compartment. It's effectively a metal tube with copper/silver contacts that completes a circuit, and if the battery overheats(the 18650 size battery isn't designed to run by itself without some kind of circuit protector), the compartment becomes a pipe bomb. Such a compartment NEEDS to be able to vent hot gas in case of a battery leak. Anything less is pure negligence on the part of the manufacturer. */vape im pooping! has a new favorite as of 14:08 on Jan 30, 2016 |

You guys actually have it wrong in this case mostly. Most mechanical mods do in fact have venting in case of a battery venting. The reason this happened to the battery in this case and most of the other cases is because they are using sub-ohm tanks with a fixed 510 connection (meaning the pin cannot be moved or adjusted) on mechanical mods with what is known as a hybrid connection. These mods don't have any kind of pin on the mod itself to touch the connector on the sub-ohm tank so the tank makes direct contact with the battery. What happens is the pins on those tanks do not protrude outward enough and this causes the battery to touch the non connector part of the tank which causes it to short and make the battery vent/explode. Most vapers have moved away from these kind of devices due to the inherent danger/risk and also because cheap regulated boxes that could never have this problem have become available and those devices have features such as reverse battery protection, venting in case of a battery problem, temperature protection/cutoff, etc.

Vaping looks dumb as poo poo to anyone who doesn't vape; you look more like you're trying to summon a horde of rats with a robot's penis than you look like a futuristic bounty hunter; smoke in any form is a dirty-rear end delivery system and can still give you asthma, emphysema and cancer; and to quote someone on this internet comedy forum I don't remember:quote:If someone said to you "hey man try this, it's the stuff in a smoke machine cut with nicotine, and you huff it out of an unregulated Chinese heat coil wrapped in unidentified mixed metals" you'd say no https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF_43fgIH_s
