Yeah he explained they're going to change the "USE" prompt to "contextual" prompts but explained it in the dumbest way.

He explained how if something breaks in combat or whatever one of the crew would have to run to a Junction box, pull a fuse, replace the fuse with one in their inventory (wtf, they need to buy spare parts now?) to get power working to whatever broke. There would be promos for open Junction box, pull fuse, replace fuse, close box, etc. It all sounded so loving stupid.

cant wait for 5 second junction box opening and closing animations

it's what you would normally expect from a video game.

star citizen is trying to catch up to being a normal videogame, but chris roberts thinks this is all new and exciting. probably cause he hasn't made a fuckin video game in more than a decade.

It's contextual in the sense that you use the same button to open chests, plant bombs, pick up intel, enter vehicles, unlock doors, or in any way interact with the environment, yes. Kind of like how they did it back in Wolf3D and Doom.

I wonder what abortion of a game Chris has played where each use case was somehow not contextual; where different kinds of usage required different keys or buttons to be pushed. Maybe he's thinking he has finally upstaged Nethack?

I have a fuse box behind a big electronics panel in my apartment, along with the breakers, fibre connection, power and water consumption meters etc. Granted, the fuses are behind a second panel with unorthodox screws and a big sign explaining whom to call if the breakers aren't solving the problem so they can send someone over to fiddle with everything… :D

I am so glad other people noticed this. The confidence with which he coined his own term for what I was certain was a standard video game feature for over a decade made me question my sanity. "He can't possibly be thinking about the "Use" key, is he? The one that's contextual in every game? There's no way - he's calling it "contextual", there has to be more to it."
