Planet Awful could be a wonderful vacation spot, where visitors can shop, relax, and go sight-seeing. Daily safaris take visitors out to witness the primitive and warlike Ghün in their natural habitat. Just be careful, the smell of fun enrages the primitive Ghüns, and they will attempt to destroy any game they see, especially if it is being played by one of the frog-like peoples of Rebbit VII.

By throwing poop, but using telekinetic abilities, so they don't have to touch it. (Except for those of them that like to.) Also, Planet Awful has a strict no refund policy.

Nah, not really. CIG bad would have been scheduling the ship for a complete rebuild because six people on the forums bitched.

Even if it was delivered in a douchey way, I gotta support the "Look, we're on a loving deadline here" answer anytime CIG gives one (once every leap year).

I'm glad you asked!

Until February 14th, you can get both triple-AAA titles for the low-low price of $45-$17,500 (add VAT if you're in Europe) - depending on whether you want one ship or all most of them. After that, the costs for ships will remain the same but the lovely FMV game will cost an additional $45 - if it's ever released it will probably cost $60 after launch.

If you can't wait to throw yourself into the Verse, the game is available for FREE until the 14th.

If you like theorycrafting, CIG has stated that the multiplayer game will neither require a subscription or be p2w - you'll not be able to buy the bigger ships for real cash after launch, and everything will be available in game. There will be limits to the amounts of CIGbux you can purchase, and the CIGbux are pegged to USD at 1000:1 ratio.

This isn't the first time he's waded into a feedback thread & PAAAARPED himself all over the feedback spouting nonsense about deadlines, pipelines & so forth before disregarding it all. Threads CIG specifically requested when they put the Vanguard in early to collect feedback on when it could still change the ship.

Total feedback collected: one thing. (they angled the wings back down to anhedral).
Total feedback ignored: thousands of posts.

If you can, look at the Shipyard forums. None of them are as active & overwhelmingly negative as the Vanguard but they keep on sending/letting Paul into the trenches to attempt to defend his poo poo job on one of the most popular concepts, much to the chagrin of some of the whales.

(Paul's poo poo work, ostensibly at the behest of management is the thing that pushed me over the edge & had me swimming to the shore of the brown sea.)

Ignore the internet drama, stick the money aspect. How much they've taken in, how much they're charging for pictures of spaceships and vague ideas, the possibility that it's been misused, and how they've got little to show for it after four years yet are denying refunds (against EU law).

I'm not a backer, so CIG hilariously lock me out of their feedback threads

I mean sure, it's a poo poo thing to say "yeah we always welcome feedback please contribute we're open development and want all of you to contribute" and then ignore it all. By their standards though, I'd say saying "yeah lol nobody's working on your lovely ship, suck it up" is one step ahead of Ben's constant "oh boy do we ever work on that! We'll have everything anybody wants and more very, very, very soon"

You know, I've played a lot of betas. Seen a lot of alphas. Been involved in a handful of pre-alphas. Outside of gaming, I've been involved with every step of the process. I have to say that I've never seen any game, even the pre-alpha ones, in a state like I see the PTU. It absolutely boggles my mind that anyone would log onto that and have anything other than :siren: going off in their head the entire time.

Everything about the PTU beggars belief. The very first seconds of the experience, with a non-interruptible getting-out-of-bed animation, set off the first alarms. Seconds later, the head-bob and motion blur. Then the generic environments and the hitching. In the first few seconds, you know the game is total poo poo. And the best part is, it only goes downhill from there.

The really insidious part is that there are glimpses of fun here and there - like chocolate sprinkles mixed throughout the worst Mexican poo poo you've ever taken. That said, no matter how scrumptious the sprinkles, we're seeing people who prefer to sift through the poo poo for those sprinkles rather than buy one of countless competing chocolates that are just as good and are actually pure through and through.

This game will one day be someone's Ph.D. - no question.

1) Changing the terms of service regarding refunds when it became apparent they weren't going to hit their deadlines

v0.0
https://web.archive.org/web/20120913232426/http://robertsspaceindustries.com/terms

With respect to the delays, the first thing to emphasize is the original release date of November 2014 as specified in the Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen/description). Then you should emphasize how in their original FAQ they said that increasing the scope would not delay the schedule (https://web.archive.org/web/20121103204818/http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen-faq/), and then point out how that is no longer the case according to Chris Roberts (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14839-Letter-From-The-Chairman).

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/12734-Draft-FAQ

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14839-Letter-From-The-Chairman

2) Denying refunds on the basis of "Game completion" (I will put this alongside some of the recent videos that should demonstrate how transparently false this is)

For this one you'd want to start with correspondence between yourself and CIG with them denying the refund. Then you point to this:

Community Manager Jared Huckabee admitting that Star Citizen isn't even in alpha by industry standards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__BVG8bx-e0&feature=youtu.be&t=36m20s

Community Manager Jared Huckabee and Director of Community Engagement and Online Strategy Ben Lesnick admitting that nothing is finished: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QV7tYjhnWAw

The only video you need to show is Chris Roberts himself playing Star Citizen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWq8ynUq7wM

3) Evidence of refunds being issued just a few months ago and evidence of refund denial now due to the whole "14 days" thing despite that not being anywhere in their terms.

Here is an example of an individual being offered a refund by CIG customer service without even asking: http://i.imgur.com/ZWFeWdx.png
Here is an example of an individual being refunded by CIG without requesting it: http://cdn.gamerant.com/wp-content/uploads/Email-to-Derek-Smart-from-RSI-700x350.jpg
By August 2015 CIG had issued over 1,200 refunds, and Roberts includes that being "really upset" is a valid reason for a refund: http://massivelyop.com/2015/08/22/star-citizen-has-refunded-over-1200-backers/

4) Evidence that they now intend to drop major sections of the game despite having sold them previously- statements like them disregarding Star Marine, among other things.
There are currently three core features that were originally advertised as part of the Kickstarter and have now either been cancelled or put into question:

Original: "Single Player – Offline or Online(Drop in / Drop out co-op play)"
Now: Isolated co-op missions outside the campaign.

Original: "Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)"
Now: "We will be live and in operation for some time before anybody even looks at private servers."

Original: We have backed Oculus Rift and will support it in Star Citizen / Squadron 42.
Now: "I can't answer that."

In addition, Squadron 42 has substantially changed. Originally it was a recreation of Wing Commander. It is now an open world game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IehITxsK4Fs&t=1h26m39s

5) Some links to articles about the shaky nature of the game- I'll use the Escapist for sure, but if there are others it'd be helpful.

Rather than focus on the company, I would emphasize how a product that is less than a year away from release still hasn't been shown to anyone.:

First article: http://www.pcgamer.com/inside-squadron-42-star-citizens-ambitious-singleplayer-campaign/

I was thinking about how staggeringly they hosed up the 2.0 release on the way to work today. The thing of it is a good 2.0 release would have bought these guys so much loving time, if they hadn't backed themselves into a corner where they absolutely HAD to fart out 2.0 right now, there'd be no chaos on the forums, no dissent in the ranks. For all the head-bob and unskippable animations and poo poo, there are a lot of people who genuinely find 2.0 fun - or at least they would if it weren't for the constant stream of bugs, crashes, and jankiness.

In a world where 2.0 released with better server support, fewer bugs, a party system, and a little less jank, CIG could be focusing on whatever they want instead of hunting down dissenters and shipping them off to labor camps.
