If I had it I would definitely expect idiots to pay ludicrous amounts of money for the "Star Citizen computer"

I cannot link directly to the description of the merchandise as it has been removed from the seller’s website. I can't believe he originally tried to sell this heap of poo poo for £3,500 just because of a few stickers.

What's a fair price for this? ~£600?

I had a look when it first appeared and parts-wise, you probably have to spend $1,000 to get the current equivalents of what's in that box (a couple of components aren't available any more and have moved on to a new release generation). If you're willing to pay a premium for the assembly and the … ehrm … fabulous decorations, it might even still be worth that much.

…except that it's a very stupid build that offers an interesting combination of ridiculous power draw, massive heat, and comparatively little oomph. So from that perspective, even 600 might be too much.

Sarsapariller you are cool and chill. But also silly.

This has the potential to be great. During the broadcast he described his game's user interface as 'the worst thing I've ever seen'."

Good point, even if stated humorously. Think about having access to all the fantastic data in this thread, and still giving Chris the benefit of the doubt. Now consider the percentage of people on the planet who take the RSI website at face value, but don't read forums like this one. Even the gaming media at large is still fellating SC (although that's slowing down finally). How would any of them know any better? Look at that repair mechanics page! He wouldn't be able to mount any defense on that front either. Like,

"I'm not an addict you idiot, I spent $2500 because I felt like it and money doesn't matter to me!" or
